Da Nang eyes more investment into its key aspects

Ways to turn Da Nang into an attractive destination for domestic and foreign investors in the tech sector were highlighted at a the recent webinar themed ‘Da Nang – the Next Southeast Asia’s Silicon Valley for Investment’.

Co- hosted by the KPMG Viet Nam and the Investment Promotion Agency, and chaired by municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh, the event attracted the online participation of representatives from about 100 businesses in the US, Europe and Southeast Asia.

It marks the first time Da Nang has organised such an investment promotion webinar amid global coronavirus outbreak.

In his opening speech at the event, Vice Chairman Chinh briefed the participants on Da Nang’s  development strategies by 2030, with a vision towards 2045. Da Nang has identified three key drivers of growth: tourism, hi-tech industry and the maritime economy, along with 5 strategic breakthroughs, namely tourism, high-quality services associated with vacation properties; seaports, and aviation associated with logistics services; hi-tech industry in combination with the construction of innovative start-up urban area; IT, electronics and telecommunications associated with digital economy; and hi-tech agricultural products and fisheries.

In his remarks at the event, Mr Luke Treloar, the Director of Strategy Consulting and National Head of Healthcare and Life Sciences for KPMG in Viet Nam affirmed, in the light of the shifting trends of global FDI inflows to diversify the supply chain, Da Nang is a bright spot in Viet Nam and it is drawing much attention from investors around the world.

Vice Chairman Chinh affirmed Da Nang’s willingness to create the best conditions for investors from both home and aboard so that they can carry out projects and conduct business activities in an effective manner.

In its efforts to realise this aforementioned commitment, Da Nang is giving top priority to promoting the IT application to create a fair, dynamic and competitive business environment.

From late this year until October, Da Nang is scheduled to host the Da Nang Investment Forum 2020, and investment promotion webinars so as to attract investors form Taiwan (China) and South Korea, and appeal for more domestic and FDI investment inflows into the 1st stage of the Da Nang IT Park.
