Da Nang is currently the only Vietnamese locality to have taken the lead in the Viet Nam ICT Index 2019, the ranking on the readiness for information and communications technology (ICT) development and applications, for 11 consecutive years. This is an important indicator to help Da Nang develop e-government and smart city building schemes during which many IT companies are on missions to produce highly practical software to serve the city’s digitalisation trend.

2014 marked the birth of a new e-government system in Da Nang. The Da Nang Information and Communication Technology Centre (DNICT) was one of the first Da Nang firms to develop software.

In 2010, with the support of the Da Nang Department of Home Affairs, DNICT has built a successful software model for managing information on local public servants through an open source platform. The model is dubbed as the first milestone in the computerisation of the city’s state management processes.

Following the effectiveness of its application right at the Da Nang Department of Home Affairs, this software product was then used in other nationwide localities, including Can Tho, Tien Giang, Bac Giang and Ha Tinh.

In addition to software for managing public servants, it is common to see booming urban utilities in Da Nang over recent years.

In 2017, the Sioux High Tech Software launched a website at http://egov.danang.gov.vn/gop-y to get feedback on Da Nang’s public services from the general public, in an effort to create a closer link between Da Nang government and local residents and tourists.

One year later, this company launched an app for public bus routes (DanaBus) available on both iOS and Android operating systems in English and Vietnamese. Using the app, commuters can easily seek information about intra-city bus routes and their schedules, and then find suitable buses for their trips.

Following in Sioux’s footsteps, Enouvo IT Solutions (EIS) has always pursuing its major in producing software and applications for the sake of Da Nang’s progress.’

In 2017, EIS launched the ‘Comfort as home’ app, which allows the users to find free public toilets or certain places that offer the free use of their restrooms to domestic and foreign tourists.

Since its first launch in Hai Chau District, this app has received positive public feedback. Last year, this company made the debut of KUUHO app so as to help the users send their comments and complaints relating to urban, environmental, administrative and tourism-related services to Da Nang government.

KUUHO users can send their comments and complaints through 3 items of ‘Raise an Emergency’, ‘Call for Help’, and ‘Violation Report’.

In early April, this app was updated with new features in order to facilitate local residents to report the Covid-19 situation in their residential areas, and any disease-related cases, to the municipal government.
