Software industry expected to play key driver of Da Nang's growth
In its effort to drive the development of the software industry to ‘fly high and far’, the Da Nang government has provided practical support to the city’s software companies and facilitated them to promote their products at home and overseas. In parallel with these measures, accelerating the progress of key IT projects across the city has been given the special heed.

The driving force for the local software industry’s remarkable strides is the enhancing quality of IT human resources. The city now houses around 36,500 IT employees, about 11,000 of whom are employed in jobs in the software sector with their average monthly income standing at about 23.5 million VND.

Since early this year, Da Nang has witnessed a surge in the number of large domestic and foreign software companies.
In early June, Ubisoft, a French video game company headquartered in Montreuil with several development studios across the world, opened a studio in Hai Chau District. This high-class studio specialises on creating original mobile games and instant-games for social media platforms.
“Da Nang is perfect, right between Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh city, so there is this big talent pool to draw from. Da Nang also offers a great alternative to much larger cities, with an ideal balance between quality of life and work. There are so many good reasons, and we’re very pleased to be a part of the development here.”, said the Da Nang studio’s Managing Director, Mr Aurelien Palasse.
The Da Nang studio plans to reruit 100 employees coming from Viet Nam and foreign countries worldwide by late this year, and make the debut of its first products in early next year.
The Da Nang studio’s employees now work with Ubisoft’s mobile teams around the world and create games based on established franchises in an exciting new step into the booming city.
In his perspectives, Mr Le Tri Hai, the Director of the city-based Green Global company affirmed, in addition to enhancing the quality of IT human resource, it is high time for the city to develop a strong IT ecosystem boasting good-quality accompanying services such as hosting, server and hardware equipment offered at affordable prices.
The Da Nang government has given the green light to the expansion of the existing Da Nang Software Park on an area of 32,895m2 in a residential area south of the Cam Le Bridge in the namesake district. This is one of the key projects for the city’s investment attraction strategies over the 2020 – 2025 period.
As scheduled, by late this year, the construction of basic infrastructure at this venue will be completed.
From 2021 until 2025, Da Nang will encourage domestic and foreign IT and telecom businesses to put money into building manufacturing facilities for software production, digital content and other IT services.
Fowling recent approval by Da Nang government, a land covering an area of 24,452m2 in Thuan Phuoc Ward, Hai Chau District, will be auctioned for the development of the Da Nang Software Park No 2.
Noticeably, last year, Ai20X, a premier business network focused on accelerating innovation to the global market, and the Da Nang IT Park Development JSC inked a memorandum of understanding on the provision of services to turn the Da Nang IT Park into an expanded ‘Silicon Valley’ in Viet Nam.
Given its high-qualified IT employees from both home and aboard, the arrival of internationally-renowned IT and software brands and the deployment of key IT projects, Da Nang's software industry is highly expected to play a key driver for its sustainable growth.
