Da Nang manufacturers take proactive steps to keep on producing amid pandemic
In the light of the coronavirus outbreak, Da Nang-based production companies have taken drastic measures to fulfill their ‘dual missions’ of preventing the spread of the deadly virus and keeping on their operations to considerably drive the local economic recovery.

Over the past month, in spite of encountering many Covid-19-triggered difficulties and obstacles, the Hoa Cam Industrial Park- based Apple Film Co., Ltd., which specialises in manufacturing packaging and wrapping films exclusively for export to Japan, has still stood firmly on stream to maintain its daily production activities as normal.
Ms Anny Thao Khuong, the company’s General Manager said, in the wake of the suspension of air services to/from Da Nang, many of its Japanese experts could not return to work. In addition, a number of the company's employees are now put under quarantine due to their previous contact with the virus carriers, which has driven the company falling into workforce shortages.
In its efforts to go through these unexpected barriers to its operation, Apple Film Co., Ltd has managed to enhance its own internal strengths in tandem with resorting to valuable support from its partners worldwide. Thanks to this, the company has remained in a full swing as it ensured the stable income of its staff and the successful fulfillment of its customers’ orders.
The Da Nang Foster Electronics Co., Ltd, now has about 1,000 employees. Compared to the time before the coronavirus outbreak, the company has seen its revenue decrease by 20 - 30%. Regardless of this discouraging fact, the company has deployed as many appropriate solutions as they can in a bid to keep on production and ensure the smooth running of on-time payroll policies.
In particular, the Da Nang Foster Electronics Co., Ltd has taken more proactive measures to prevent their staff from potential exposure to the deadly novel coronavirus. The initiatives have been made to reschedule work shifts and meal timing to prevent unnecessary gatherings and overcrowding.
Till date, neither any Covid-19 infections nor F1 contacts have been reported in this labour-intensive company. Currently, only more than 10 F2 contacts have been undergoing their mandatory self-quarantine period at their places of residence to ensure safety for themselves and others, and encouragingly, all of them still receive monthly salaries from the company.
The bustling working ambiance has still been recorded in the Da Nang Foster Electronics Co., Ltd |
Likewise, bustling working ambiance has still been recorded in the Viet Hoa Electronics Co., Ltd. located in Hoa Khanh Industrial Park as over 4,000 employees are now working here.
Mr Pham Truong Son, the Head of Authority of the Da Nang High-Tech Park and Industrial Zones, all of the businesses have affirmed their stance on strictly curbing the coronavirus transmissions in parallel with guaranteeing their normal operation maintenance.
A great advantage is that many manufacturers in the Hi-tech Park have used more machine power than human labour, which helps to avoid overcrowded work environment under the practice of the compulsory social distancing restrictions. In addition, their facilities are located at coronavirus low-risk areas, and far away from residential areas.
