Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh said under the master plan to 2030, Da Nang’s total population will reach about 1.97 million, whilst land resources earmarked for urban construction will stand at more than 34,000 ha, accounting for more than 35.5% of the city’s total area.

Noticeably, there will have 3 typical urban areas and 2 the so-called ‘economic belts’, namely the northern part boasting high-tech industry and seaport- logistics, and the southern part showing off innovations and high-tech agriculture.

Meanwhile, development-oriented urban space will be divided into 12 sub-divisions. Prominent amongst them are a 6,500ha downtown location along the eastern bank of the Han River; 1,258ha Lien Chieu Port subdivision, the about 5,679ha high-tech subdivision heading towards hi-tech, environmentally friendly industries and information technology; the 4,740ha ‘Green Core Centre’; the 3,900ha ‘Innovation’ hub featuring the construction of the Da Nang University Urban Area, a software park, international hospitals and Hoa Xuan sports complex; the 1,300ha expanded Da Nang Airport sub-division; plus urban areas in Hoa Hiep Nam Ward and the communes of Hoa Son and Hoa Lien.

The development of a tunnel connecting the city’s International Airport with its road network in the western part, a tunnel stretching under the Han River in order to ease traffic congestion, and a bridge connecting Bui Ta Han Street in Ngu Hanh Son District and the 29 March Street in Hoa Xuan Eco-Urban Area in Cam Le District are at the heart of Da Nang's strategic planning and development plans.

The Lien Chieu port lays the key role as the drivers of the city's economic growth. Here is a scene from the Xuan Thieu Beach - Nam O project in Lien Chieu District.

In particular, Minister of Construction Ha urged Da Nang to affirm its notable stature until 2030 as a part of the global supply chain network, the country’s gateway to the East-West Economic Corridor, as well as seek a berth in the ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN) and develop itself into a tourism, service and economic hub in the future.

In his perspectives, Chairman of the Viet Nam Architects’ Association Nguyen Tan Van underlined a stress to mobilise all resources available to start work on the Lien Chieu mega-port, which plays the key role as the drivers of the city's economic growth, especially helps set up large-scale logistics and urban areas in the northern part of Da Nang.

Meanwhile, Architect Tran Ngoc Chinh, Chairman of the Viet Nam Urban Planning and Development Association proposed the conversion of the existing Tien Sa Port into a modern cruise ship port in the central region, like the interMonte Carlo cruise port in France.

In the Thursday meeting, municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh said his locality has built up draft plans for promoting its socio-economic development for the 2021-2025 period.

With regard to urban construction investment plans for the 2021-2025 period, the municipal administration has asked the Ministry of Planning and Investment to approve the allocation of 47,571 billion VND from the national government budget for 38 projects across the city.
