Financial aid from domestic businesses for Da Nang to help fight Covid-19

On behalf of the Da Nang leaders and locals, municipal People's Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho and municipal Fatherland Front Committee Chairwoman Dang Thi Kim Lien, on Friday, co-chaired a reception for tens of billions of VND in aid from domestic businesses and associations to help Da Nang fight Covid-19.

In detail, Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup donated 100 VFS 510 intrusion ventilators totalling 18.5 billion VND to Da Nang to support the treatment of Covid-19 patients.

In addition, Vingroup was committed to supplying its modern medical equipment and sending experienced medical personnel from its own Vinmec international hospitals nationwide to an under-establishment field hospital at the Tuyen Son Sports Arena.

Besides, the Da Nang Vinmec Hospital is now also willing to receive patients who need coronary interventions, those with bone trauma and traumatic brain injuries and others with serious health problems transferred from the existing blockaded hospitals, in order to ease the patient overload there.

Da Nang also received financial support from other large businesses nationwide, namely 2 billion VND from the Tuan Chau Group, 500 million VND from the Central Power Corporation, 1 billion VND from the Viet Nam Electricity and Heineken Vietnam Brewery – Da Nang Limited Company each, 200 million VND from the Da Nang Branch of the Viet Nam Bank of Social Policies, and 50 million VND from the Da Nang Branch of Petrolimex.

Noticeably, five large Vietnamese commercial banks, namely Agribank, Vietcombank, BIDV, VietinBank and MB-Bank, donated a total of 25 billion VND, with each financing 5 billion VND, to Da Nang for its purchases of Covid-19 diagnostic bio-products.

Addressing the donation reception, Da Nang People's Committee Huynh Duc Tho Chairman thanked all  the businesses and organisation nationwide for their valuable support for Da Nang in the very stressful times as the city is battling a new wave of infections.

Also on Friday, the municipal Fatherland Front Committee handed 20,000 surgical masks to frontline medical workers at hospitals of Cancer, Lung, Maternity and Pediatrics, and the 199 Institute under the Ministry of Public Security. These masks were donated by the Faslink Fashion Joint Stock Company based on Hong Bang Street, Ward No 12, District No 5, Ho Chi Minh City.

The Da Nang Young Entrepreneurs’ Association presented medical equipment worth 630 million VND to two local medical establishments, namely the Lung Hospital and the Hoa Vang District Medical Centre, to support Covid-19 treatment.

Meanwhile, the Song Han Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Joint Stock Company presented the city with 700 bottles of disinfectant and 200 bottles of disinfecting ears, noses and throats.

VNPT has offered free-of-charge data packages of up to 30GB (1GB / day for 30 days) for Da Nang's pandemic prevention and control forces, including police and militia, and staff members at all-leveled People's Committees, patients and their relatives, health workers at the hospitals of C, Da Nang General and Orthopedic and Rehabilitation, and all local residents.

In a similar vein, a chain of 6 For You restaurants across Da Nang has pledged to provide a total of free 800 portions of meals each day, worth 45,000 VND each, to medical workers at the city-based existing blockaded medical establishments.

Staff members and footballers from the SHB Da Nang have raised funding to buy necessities for supplies to the Da Nang General Hospital and the C Hospital.
