In early August, the Da Nang Department of Tourism asked stranded tourists with urgent need to leave Da Nang to contact the Tourist Support Centre to register for flights to Ha Noi and HCMC.
Till date, 1,453 stuck travellers have registered to fly back to the two big cities. In detail, 828 people will return to Ha Noi, whilst the remaining 625 will fly back to Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the Da Nang Department of Tourism, Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air will operate 7 flights to bring all stuck tourists in Da Nang back to Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City from 12-14 August.
In recent days, staff of the city’s Tourist Support Centre have been very busy in contacting already-registered tourists to let them know about detailed schedules of their flights to get home.
Mr Nguyen Xuan Binh, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Tourism, said that, over recent days, his agency has been closely worked with governments of Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City to arrange special flights to bring stranded travellers home from Da Nang.
Also, the Department has asked the Ministry of Transport to support the city's efforts in bringing back the stuck travellers, and urged the Steering Committees for Covid-19 Prevention and Control in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City, to prepare plans to welcome back their citizens.
The Department has cooperated with the municipal Travel Association and road transport service providers in the city, to prepare six 45-seater coaches to take travellers to Da Nang International Airport from their hotels.
Upon arrival to the airport, tourists will implement check-in procedures before getting on planes with the help of the Da Nang Tourist Support Centre's staff.
Before boarding flights to leave Da Nang, tourists will receive thank you gifts from the Da Nang Department of Tourism as a way to extend the city’s deep gratitude to tourists for having chosen Da Nang as their favourite travel destination.
Each of the gifts include Ms Lieu ‘banh kho me’ (dried sesame seed cakes) and green bean cakes, and a thank you note from Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh.
