Transport rapid response team established in the city to respond to Covid-19

After Da Nang saw a second wave of Covid-19 infections in late July, there has been an urgent need to transport food, medical and essential supplies, to hospitals under lockdown or quarantine facilities in the city.

Responding to urgent needs of the Covid-19 situation in Da Nang, the Pickup Danang Club has set up a transport rapid response team. The team now has about 50 members who are directors and business managers serving in various aspects but they are showing their willingness and readiness to support the city's efforts to tackle Covid-19. They are using their own pickup trucks to transport goods and necessities in case of an emergency.

The team members will collect in-kind donations from generous individuals and organisations across Da Nang, and then deliver them to quarantine sites or hospitals and residential areas under lockdown in the city.

Mr Mai Chi Cong, Director of the Mai Tien Thanh Co.,Ltd., headquartered in Quang Nam Province's Nui Thanh District, is living in Da Nang, but he started his career in Quang Nam Province. His company in Quang Nam Province has had its operation halted temporarily due to coronavirus outbreak. Mr Cong decided to join the transport rapid respond team in Da Nang to support to the city's efforts in its touch fight against Covid-19.

Mr Cong said he often makes between 7 and 10 transportation trips every day, whist his wife has been active in preparing and cooking meals for his team’s members.

Mr Nguyen Tran Hoang Anh, Deputy Director of the DNC Building Materials Co., Ltd., cum the leader of the transport rapid response team, said his team’s office is located on the Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street and it is installed with a system to disinfect the entire body of team members after they end their journeys.
