Da Nang businesses find export opportunities
Although the current situation with the Covid -19 in such major destinations for Da Nang exports as Europe, the U.S., Japan and South Korea is still complicated, the city’s exports have initially recorded positive highlights since the start of this month. It is worth lauding that many businesses have proactively built up plans to effectively adapt themselves to the current Covid-19 situation, with the major goals of preventing the pandemic-triggered production disruptions and keeping their staff remaining on the payrolls.
The Foster Electronics Co., Ltd. has taken initiative to stabilise production and income for its staff. |
Nearly half a month for now, production has gone full swing at the Hoa Cam Industrial Park-based Foster Electronics Co., Ltd., with more than 1,000 workers.
According to the company’s General Director Nguyen Quan Hoang, from now till year-end, working hours will be increased to keep up with high order numbers whilst long-term plans will be built up to proactively respond to any unexpected challenging situation in the time ahead.
Besides, a number of large seafood exporters citywide have grasped the opportunity to increase their market shares in Europe, the U.S., Japan and South Korea in light of the supply from some countries, Thailand for instance, against which Viet Nam has fierce competition has been interrupted due to the pandemic.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Thuan Phuoc Fisheries Joint Stock Company Tran Van Linh analysed: “Covid-19 caused a severe global supply chain disruption with some manufacturing sectors of many countries whereas the consumption demand, for seafood products for instance, still has remained high. Based this fact, we have accelerated the production of our products in order to meet our customer demand”.
Likewise, the textile and garment industry has begun to make more positive changes after a few months of ‘hibernation’ as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
Employees of the Hung Nga carpentry establishment have returned to work since its reception of new orders since late last month. |
During the pandemic, the 29-3 Textiles and Garments Joint Stock Company halted the production of vestons for export to the European countries because no orders were received. In an attempt to get through the tough times, the company quickly took the initiative to make a suitable shift to boosting the production of sports clothing for export to France and some other European countries, and medical protective gears for consumption in the US market.
Thanks to its appropriate business strategies, the company has remained on its strong feet in maintaining stable production activities and the payrolls for its staff.
In reality, not only does the gradual recovery of the export market and supply chains prompt financially strong exporters in Da Nang to quickly boost production and proactively develop appropriate plans for sustainable operation, but it also paves the way for many small and micro enterprises to make a rebound after many months of diminishing orders and revenue.
For instance, since the coronavirus outbreak in the city showed a sign of abating, the Hoa Vang District-based Hung Nga carpentry establishment has received a big order of more than 4,000 beach beds for exports.
For the time being, this establishment’s workers are working flat-out to complete the aforementioned order by late this month to meet the delivery schedule. From now till late this year, Hung Nga is expected to get more orders from its customers to compensate for the sharp decline in sales in the past few months under the negative impact of the pandemic.
