IT is amongst very few sectors seeing higher employment rates even as the Covid-19 pandemic cuts jobs elsewhere. There is no denying that it the pandemic forced local businesses to promote the application of digital technologies in their operating activities in a faster manner. Amid coronavirus fears, many shops, for instance, have focused on selling their products on the internet in order to meet the growing demand of customers. Besides, a large number of commercial transactions were implemented on online trading platform.

Since the start of this year, many IT enterprises in Da Nang have geared up the recruitment of more employees with high qualifications so as to develop new highly practical IT products.

The NFQ Asia, which belongs to Germany-based NFQ Group, is currently on its path of opening its second office in Da Nang. Mr Ngo Dat, the technical leader of NFQ Asia, affirmed the fact that the pandemic has sparked an increasing demand for IT services in many countries worldwide, and Viet Nam is no exemption.

In the U.S., for example, there were many fake calls to 911 during the pandemic, which overloaded the system with non-emergency calls. In a bid to address this issue, a business has come up with the idea of offering a tech solution that verifies the truthfulness of emergency calls to this helpline, and this tech product has received high applause the U.S public.

During the practice of the recently-eased social distancing restrictions in the city, small to large-sized enterprises across the city have moved to a work-from-home model to minimise the risk of exposure by their employees to Covid-19 whilst keeping their services uninterrupted during the pandemic. They resorted to the use of tech apps to maintain their operation in an effective manner.

To grasp this opportunity, NFQ Asia has concentrated on developing e-commerce projects and Machine Learning, is the science of getting computers to act without being explicitly programmed.

For the time being, many other IT enterprises are steeping up the recruitment of IT engineers. According to Director of the Thanh Khe District-based DataHouse Asia Consulting Joint Stock Company Nguyen Xuan Huy, in late August, his company held a virtual job fair with a focus on recruiting such many employment positions as programmers, testers, project managers and business analysts.

Likewise, the Hai Chau District-based BAP Investment and Technology Joint Stock Company is in similar move to seek highly-qualified and skilled mobile and web programmers to develop its startups and outsourcing projects.

According to technological experts, digital transformation in organisations and businesses is the process of changing from traditional models to digital enterprises by applying new technologies such as big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence and cloud computing. It also changes operation and leadership methods, working processes and corporate culture.

The use of new, fast changing digital technology brings many benefits such as cutting operating costs, reaching more customers in a shorter time, quicker and more accurate decisions thanks to timely reporting systems, thereby enhancing the operational efficiency and competitiveness of organisations and businesses.
