However, visitor numbers recorded in Da Nang over recent days have been still low amidst public coronavirus fears.

In their efforts to ensure the ultimate safety of their staff and visitors, all tourist sites have prioritised taking necessary precautions, including hand sanitiser being available in all public areas, adequate hand soap in restrooms, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and ensuring sufficient ventilation.

Mr Nguyen Van Hien, Head of the Management Board of the Marble Mountains Tourist Area, said the special national relic site begun to welcome back tourists from 21 September with appropriate measures taken to protect public health.

In particular, free bottles of alcohol-based hand sanitizer have been placed at ticket booths and main entrances to the tourist site. All the staff and visitors are asked to wash their hands regularly, wear face coverings and maintain a safe distance from others.

Director of the Viet Nam Adventure Tour Co Ltd Ho Thanh Tu said that September through to December is the period considered to be the city’s off-peak season for tourism because these months coincide with the rainy and stormy season and pupils start the new academic year.

Mr Tu said that Da Nang’s tourism industry could look towards a better future at the end of the year because this is a suitable period for travel agencies and tourism businesses from the city to promote the development of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) tourism.

Chairman of the municipal Tourism Association Cao Tri Dung underlined a must-do for tourism businesses to renew its tourism products to satisfy their customers’ demands in tandem with good practice of Covid-19 preventive measures.

Mr Dung highlighted the importance of adopting infection prevention and control measures for Covid-19 to restore tourist confidence and ensure the safety of hospitality workers and tourists when Da Nang has entered a new normal after Covid-19 pandemic.

Chairman Dung hoped that all domestic visitors would see the efforts being made by the Da Nang government, especially the Da Nang tourism industry, to create a safe and friendly tourism environment for them in a bid to help them feel comfortable and secure when visiting Da Nang.
