The effective management of transport services by land and inland waterways  and the impressive acceleration of the transportation infrastructure in Da Nang have been noticeable highlights recorded by Da Nang’s transportation industry over the past 5 years, hereby considerably driving the city’s economic growth.

Da Nang Department of Transport Director Le Van Trung, public transport networks within Da Nang have developed strongly in both quality and quantity, meeting the growing travel demand of locals and tourists.
Noticeably, over 2015-2020 period, the volume of transported freight and passengers climbed by 8.3% and 9% year-on-year, respectively.

The total revenue generated from all transport services recorded an annual hike of 6.6%. Likewise, the total amount of cargo through local ports stood at 43.1 million tonnes, up 9.3% on a yearly basis.
In particular, 12 subsidised intra-city bus routes and 2 other connecting Da Nang with the neighbouring province of Thua Thien-Hue have proven effective.

An app for public bus routes (DanaBus) available on both iOS and Android operating systems in English and Vietnamese allows commuters can easily seek the information about the Da Nang bus routes and their schedules, and then find suitable buses for their trips.

Till date, all of the buses operating in the city have been fully equipped with global positioning system (GPS) as per request of the Ministry of Transport. The installation of GPS in buses aims to monitor the service quality, and detect bus routes-related violations, including exceeding the speed limits, overtaking recklessly, crossing red light, not stopping at bus stops, and picking up and dropping off passengers at prohibited locations.

As of late December, 2019, the city had housed 2,440 streets with a combined total length of 1,436.63 k, an increase of 265.59 km as compared to early 2015, along with 74 bridges totalling 14,961.50 m and 7 inland waterway routes stretching a sum of 63.2km.

In addition to accelerating transport projects across Da Nang, a handful of effectively synchronous solutions have been rolled out in an attempt to ensure smooth traffic flows and reduce crashes across the city.

Focus has been placed on conducting traffic re-arrangement projects, installing more traffic control signals at intersections, organising one-way traffic, allocating more local streets where 4-wheeled vehicles will only be allowed to park either on odd dates or even dates, and installing traffic surveillance cameras for the detection of traffic violations.

These highly practical traffic enhancement steps have helped mitigate traffic congestions during rush hours, keeping accident numbers remained on downward trend, and put a break on the rise of traffic violations.

Encouragingly, the city has seen a decline in the numbers of traffic crashes, deaths and injuries over recent years.
