Since its inception in 2010, the 8,841 billion VND, over 1,128 ha Da Nang Hi-tech Park has attracted 22 projects, of which 10 were FDI ones totalling over 400 million US$, whilst the rest were domestically invested with a combined total of 6,291 billion VND. Till date, nine of them have been put into official operation.

Notably, a surface-mount technology (SMT) assembly and manufacturing plant, the first of its kind in Central Viet Nam, has been put into official operation in the Park.

Developed by the Da Nang IT Park Development JSC under the Trung Nam Group, the 1,000m2, 7 million US$ SMT plant specialises in manufacturing electronic components and printed circuit boards for exports. It is designed to churn out 7,000,000 products per year.

The plant is highly expected to create a foundation for accelerating the manufacturing of hi-tech electronics and precision mechanics, thereby helping drive the development of Viet Nam's support industries.

Meanwhile, the HCM City-based Vinh Duc Construction Trading JSC has received an investment licence from the Da Nang authorities to lift to the veil on its 350 billion VND medical device manufacturing facility in the Park.

The facility will specialise in manufacturing high-tech orthopedic and rehabilitation medical equipment and supplies, including intervertebral discs and spinal pedicle screws.

It is known that the majority of the projects operating in the Park involve in such priority aspects as biotech, nanotech, automation equipment and components for the aerospace industry, software apps, hi-tech products and medical equipment.

Last year, businesses operating in the Park generated a combined total of 69.6 million US$ in revenue, and reached 43.5 million US$ worth of export turnover.

At present, 400ha of rental land in the Park are available for both domestic and foreign investors for their production and business operations.

Under the Park’s development orientations to 2030, the top priority will be given to welcoming potential projects involved in such aspects as ICT industry, nanotech, biotech hi-tech, and research and development (R&D), with high investment rate, in light of the thriving Fourth Industrial Revolution, or Industry 4.0.

In the coming time, once the Covid-19 pandemic is better controlled worldwide, the Authority of the Da Nang Hi-tech Park and Industrial Zones will effectively organise investment promotion and cooperation programmes in a bid to attract more large-scale FDI projects from South Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Southeast Asian countries.

As planned, construction is expected to commence on the 2nd stage of the Hoa Cam IP, and the Hoa Nhon and Hoa Ninh IPs.

In an effort to attract a new wave of domestic and foreign investors, Da Nang will pay more special attention to speeding up administrative reform in a synchronous manner, helping businesses overcome the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, and create an open, safe and healthy investment environment for businesses.
