Data published by the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade show that 10 businesses in the city have already spent an estimated 367.5 billion VND in total stocking up on essentials in preparation for the impending rainy and stormy season.

Notable amongst them are such large retailers as Co.opmart, MM Mega Market, and the Da Nang branch of the EB Hai Phong JSC.

In particular, these retailers have stored 25,284 carton boxes of instant noodles, 12,653 boxes of dry provisions, 77 tonnes of rice and glutinous rice at all kinds, 13,832 boxes of water bottles, and 339 tonnes of other items.

Meanwhile, the petroleum companies in Da Nang have stockpiled 12,600m3 of petrol and 17,000m3 of diesel at a total cost of 311 billion VND.

Mr Dam Van Tau, Director of the Da Nang Market Development and Management Company, affirmed that most of traditional markets citywide ensure that there is sufficient supply of essential goods at stabilised prices for Da Nang people during the stormy season, especially in the case of any unexpected natural disasters.

He added market stall holders have many years of experience in business activities, so they have stored essential goods in case of bad weather.

In addition, staff of the municipal Market Management Bureau will increase their checks, and make every effort to ensure that the goods will be sold at the displayed prices. Specifically, stricter penalties will be imposed on those who increase prices of essential goods excessively due to the scarcity of goods to generate illicit profits.
