Like many other coastal localities across Viet Nam, Da Nang is naturally blessed with a beautiful long coastline.

Over recent years, marine tourism is considered one of the major drivers of Da Nang tourism industry’s growth, becoming an attractive magnet for influxes of holiday makers from both home and overseas. How to make this tourism segment play a vital role in Da Nang’s economy has always given the top priority by Da Nang government.

Da Nang has risen to fame both domestically and internationally thanks to long stretches of such charming pristine picturesque beaches as Xuan Thieu, Nam O, Son Tra, My Khe, Bac My An, Son Thuy and Non Nuoc.

Recently, some beaches in Da Nang have been honoured by international magazines. Notably, the My Khe Beach was recognised as one of the six most attractive beaches on the planet by renowned US magazine Forber magazine in 2005. In addition, it was also commended as one of 10 most popular beaches in Asia by the Sunday Herald Sun of Australia in 2009.

Looking from above, My Khe is fascinating by the blue color stretching to the horizon. Especially at the sunsets, it put on a new colour which is quieter, creating a beautiful scene.

As charming as My Khe, Non Nuoc Beach in Da Nang took 10th place in the top 25 beaches in Asia in TripAdvisor’s 2017 Traveller’s Choice Awards for its white sand-bank, mild waves, blue year- round warm water suitable for holiday at any time of the year.

Da Nang’s marine tourism offers a wide range of accommodations meeting the demand amongst both budget or low-cost tourists and those with deep pockets.

Besides affordable 1-3 star hotels, such 4-5 star resorts as Sheraton Grand Da Nang, Furama Resort, Nam An Retreat, Pullman, Vinpearl Resort & Spa, and InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort have satisfied high-end holiday makers.

Also remarkably, Da Nang has been very proud of being the host of a wide range of large-scale international beach sports events. Included were the 5th Asian Beach Games (ABG5), Da Nang International Marathon (DNIM), and the 2015 - 2016 Clipper Round the World Race.

Not only a coastal city, Da Nang lies in the central key economic zone and at one end of the East-West economic corridor and a gateway to the Pacific ocean of Viet Nam, Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. Hence, it has tremendous potential to develop local maritime logistics services.

Indonesia’s Detik news outlet has favourably dubbed Da Nang, the largest and most modern city in Central Viet Nam, ‘Viet Nam’s Bali’ favoured by both domestic and international travellers.

However, many domestic experts pointed out to the fact that Da Nàn-owned inherent marine tourism potentials have yet to be fully tapped over the past time. Simply put, such marine tourism products taken place onshore and underwater as scuba diving, coral reef snorkelling, and fishing, should be given a lift to thrive further in the coming time.

Fully aware of the great importance of marine tourism, Da Nang government has given a nod to the implementation of many projects. Amongst them are the promotion of community-based tourism at the Tho Quang and Man Thai beaches, the development of community tourism in Nam O, and the fostering of beach tourism services along the Nguyen Tat Thanh unique arch-shaped route over the 2018 – 2020 period.

The focus is on fully exploiting such tourism potential combined with the preservation of traditional fishery villages, introducing daily life activities of fishery villagers to visitors, and creating the opportunities for visitors to experience the life of fishermen or fishing activities.
