This much-awaited project will be deployed under  a joint agreement signed by the TDH Ecoland Urban Development and Investment JSC, the Huy Hoang Development Production and Import Export JSC, along with the Huy Hoang Eco Environment JSC.

Under the approved plans, the formulation, evaluation and approval of the project will be completed in the first quarter of 2021, whilst the invitation of bids must be completed in the third quarter of 2021 so that construction can commence on the project as soon as possible.

Another highly-practical project, the Da Nang energy-from-waste incineration plant, with a daily capacity of 650 tonnes, will be deployed by the Viet Nam Environment Corporation.

The detailed 1:500 planning map for the project, environmental impact assessment reports and supplements to the national power development planning, have reached completion.

Da Nang is now facing challenges in dealing with the large volume of untreated solid waste. It is reported that, every day, between 850 and 900 tonnes of solid waste are collected from across the city, and buried at the landfill. The Khanh Son landfill site’s working life is likely to end no later than 2021. Based this concerning fact, the upgrade of the Khanh Son landfill into an ecological solid waste treatment complex is on track in a bid to help the city deal with overloaded dumps and environmental pollution there.

The city has set a target of collecting 95% of solid waste for treatment over the 2019 – 2025 period, with 12% and 15% to be recycled and reused in 2020 and 2025 respectively.

By 2025, the whole of Da Nang will have implemented the sorting of domestic solid waste at families, and 100% of industrial parks and production establishments, service providers, and government agencies and organisations will have classified waste at the source.

Whole city expects to expand the waste classification at source by 2022. In the 2021-2022 period, solid waste in Da Nang will be classified into 4 categories: recyclable waste, such as paper, plastic and metal; toxic waste, such as batteries and light bulbs; construction waste; and other types of waste.
