Da Nang Airport awarded international accreditation for Covid-19 health standards
Da Nang International Airport has received international accreditation for its health standards in the pandemic.
Strict coronavirus prevention and control measures have been put in place at Da Nang Airport |
Da Nang International Airport has received certification from the Airports Council International (ACI) Airport Health Accreditation programme. It was awarded after a careful assessment of new health measures and procedures which have been introduced at the airport.
Da Nang International Airport is the second Vietnamese airport after Noi Bai Airport in Ha Noi to be awarded the accreditation, which provides airports with an assessment of how well health measures align with worldwide standards and industry best practices amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
All passenger areas and processes at Da Nang Airport were assessed as part of the accreditation process, including terminal access, check-in areas, security screening, boarding gates, lounges and airport shops and restaurants. The physical layout and additional passenger facilities, as well as communication with customers, also formed part of the assessment.
Da Nang Airport had to undergo a very rigorous evaluation processes required by both ICAO and ACI, in terms of major criteria, namely cleaning and disinfection, physical distancing (where feasible and practical), staff protection, physical layout, passenger communications and passenger facilities.
In particular, the aviation health safety protocol and the safety operation procedures for passengers amidst the globally complicated COVID-19 pandemic have applied effectively at the airport.
In detail, focus has been placed on sanitising and disinfecting periodically, installing thermal sensor camera systems to control passengers’ temperature effectively, equipping autonomic check-in and boarding systems for direct contact restriction, applying TCACS technology for air conditioner systems in order to mitigate the spread of bacteria and viruses in the air, d anplacing acrylic barriers at check-in counters and boarding gates at terminals.
In addition, all passengers and the airport staff are required to wear face masks, clean hands often with soaps and alcohol-based disinfectants, and maintain a safe distance with others.
This prestigious accreditation is valid within 12 months since the date of recognition.
The ACI-launched AHA programme provides airports with an assessment of how aligned their health measures are with the ACI Aviation Business Restart and Recovery guidelines and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)Council Aviation Restart Task Force recommendations along with industry best practices. The programme is open to all ACI member airports of all sizes in all regions.
Da Nang Airport's accreditation demonstrates its ongoing commitment to the safety of staff and passengers in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and the importance it places on restoring public confidence in air travel.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam, the certification would be an important condition for the Vietnamese aviation sector to step-by-step resume international commercial flights in the coming times.
