The Da Nang Department of Science and Technology held a get-together on Thursday for innovative startup businesses in the city.

In his remarks at the event, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam said Da Nang is stepping up actions to develop itself into a startup and innovation hub in Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands in the years ahead.

To realise the aforementioned ambition, Mr Nam highlighted the significance of developing working and training spaces for startup founders, as well as issue preferential mechanisms and policies for the building of an innovative startup ecosystem in Da Nang.

Vice Chairman also underscored the significance of boosting international cooperation to bolster startup innovation and attract more startup funds to the city.

Mr Nam stressed the need to promote start-up activities amongst university and junior college students as well as establish startup support centres and hi-tech businesses incubators in the city.

During the meeting, many startup entrepreneurs presented their ideas and recommendations about the creation of Da Nang’s startup ecosystem this year to leaders of the city and relevant agencies.

They stressed the necessity for Da Nang to foster the connection between scientists and businesses, issue more robust and practical support policies for startups, and fully tap the city’s internal resources to create a consumer market for startup products.

Also at the event, developers of three Da Nang-made startup projects which won notable prizes at national-level innovative startup contests in 2020 were honoured with Certificates of Merit from the Da Nang People’s Committee.
