Comprehensive steps to lift Da Nang's rapid yet sustainable development journey

March 29, which marked the 46th anniversary of the city’s Liberation Day, saw the announcement ceremony of decrees and decisions approved by Viet Nam's national government and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Da Nang’s development goals. This is viewed as a particularly important event, enabling the city to bring into play its potential and advantages for rapid yet sustainable development.

Notable among attendees at the announcement ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, the leaders of ministries and national government agencies branches, the Military Zone 5 High Command, neighboring localities and the city-based diplomatic offices, plus municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang and other city key officials.

Taking advantage of the breakthrough opportunities to raise future stature 

Delivering his opening speech, municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh affirmed the fact that the adjustment of the Da Nang Master Plan for its major development goals to 2030, with a vision to 2045 has shaped land use planning, and spatial, socio-economic, technical infrastructure development models, urban design and economy, and strategic environmental assessment schemes to meet the city’s socio-economic development requirements.

On behalf of the city leaders, Chairman Chinh pledged that the municipal government would continue to take more effective solutions to enhance its competitiveness such as ensuring openness, transparency on land resources, boosting administrative reform  procedures in the spirit of righteousness of Vietnamese laws, and supporting businesses to remove their difficulties and problems.

“Da Nang will constantly strive to considerably get better, continue to paid more kind concern to long-term investors and ‘roll the red carpet’ to welcome potential ones. Da Nang may not be the best place for investment, but it will become the land with which you are most satisfied”, Chairman Chinh emphasised.

Serving as a new driver for the country’s progress

Wirth regard to his instructions, Deputy Prime Minister Dung urged Da Nang to take stronger development steps to become a civilised, modern city, and especially, play a dynamic role for the economic development of Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands and Viet Nam's at large in the burgeoning era of industrialisation and modernisation”.

He underlined a must-do for the city to focus on effectively restructuring its economy, developing synchronous infrastructure systems, especially transport,  strengthening socio-economic development management with a heed to controlling urban development planning, promoting administrative reform, especially administrative procedure reform, strengthening national defence capacity and ensuring political security.

Investment procedures for the shared infrastructure development if the Lien Chieu deep-sea mega-port must be completed as soon as possible in line with the provisions of the national laws.

Also, Da Nang must conduct research and invite project consultancies, especially highly prestigious international ones, to create plans for a Southeast Asia regional-level international financial centre (IFC), with heed to making proposals on mechanisms and policies for the city's growth.

Secretary Quang re-affirmed the approvals of the national government and the Prime Minister on Da Nang’s development serves as a very important tool, bringing more motivation and confidence for Da Nang to enter a new, challenging historical period, and enabling Da Nang, and the Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands regions as a whole to record stronger breakthroughs in the coming time.

On Monday, municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh and Chairman of Imex Pan Pacific Group (IPPG) Johnathan Hanh Nguyen entered into agreement on funding a project for turning Da Nang into a Southeast Asia regional financial centre.

IPPG is well known as one of the biggest multi-business corporates in Vietnam operating in different fields, including fashion, F&B, real estate, and non-aviation service.

According to the data reported by the Da Nang Land Fund Development Centre, it is curently managing 321 large land plots with a total land area of 2,013,765.9m2. The municipal administration will transfer land-usage rights to businesses via auction to ensure that prices are consistent with market rates over the 2021 – 2025.
