Da Nang sees rise in visitor numbers

Great deals on tour packages offered by Da Nang, and increased domestic flights operated by Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways to Da Nang have helped boost the number of people visiting the Vietnamese central city.

Da Nang expects to welcome about 15.367 air passengers during the upcoming 4-day break for the Reunification Day (April 30) and Labour Day (May 1) holidays when Vietnamese airlines will resume domestic flights from such destinations as Can Tho, Hai Phong,Vinh, and Phu Quoc to Da Nang in the second quarter of 2021.

Da Nang is emerging as an attractive destination for traveller for the summer holidays.

Seaside hotels in Da Nang located on coastal Vo Nguyen route have seen an increasing number of guests. A bustling atmosphere has been recorded in coastal streets in the city.

Figures released by some Da Nang-based travel agencies show that the city witnessed a significant increase in tourist arrivals. For example, Vietnam TravelMart JSC is expected to receive about 5,000 visitors , mainly travellers from Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi and other Vietnamese localities visiting Da Nang on a group basis.

Hai Van Cat International Travel Company Limited is planned to welcome about 700 visitors, the majority of whom are solo travellers visiting Da Nang with booked tour package deals. In May and June, the company is expected to host from 1,200-1,500 visitors per month, of whom, about 30% are guests on M.I.C.E (Meetings-Incentives-Conferences-Exhibitions) trips, about 50% are group visitors, while the rest are returning visitors and solo travellers.

According to Da Nang branch of Vietravel, in April, the agency saw an increase of about 50% against the previous months in the number of tourist arrivals, and the figure is higher on weekends.

Such popular tourist sites as Sun World Ba Na Hills and the Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park have seen an increasing number of their visitors.

In March, the Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park offered preferential programmes for female visitors in a bid to increase visitor numbers. In the coming time, this tourist site will be upgradded, and put its new items into operation in an effort to improve the guest experience. Included are expanded Huyet Long Warm Mineral Springs with a cluster of natural springs, new orchid plants to be growed to beautify this site.  This will help bring a fresh look to this site, bring visitors closer to nature, and make this site an amazing place for visitors to check in and take great selfies when they are here. In its efforts to attract more visitors in the upcoming public holidays, the Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park has enhanced its sauna with the benefits of the Himalayan salts to create a sense of place and calmness for its guests.

Data published by the Da Nang Department of Tourism show that more than 50% of the city’s total serviced accommodation establishments have already reopened. Many 4-5 star accommodation establishments have seen an overall increase in bookings, and some of them are fully booked for the upcoming 4-day break for the Reunification Day (April 30) and Labour Day (May 1) holidays.

Mr. Truong Ngoc Thanh, Director, External Communications at Furama Resort Danang, said the resort had seen a surge in bookings thanks to its great offers and the city-launched campaigns to stimulate demand.

Mr Thanh remarked that more than 250 hotel rooms and villas at the resort have already been booked for the upcoming public holidays. The resort plans to organise a water puppet show in order to bring special feelings to its guests, Mr Thanh added.

Since late March, Salmalia Boutique Hotel & Spa located on Lam Hoanh street, Son Tra district, have reported a surge in the occupancy rate.

Ms. Mai Nhu Sa, Sales and Marketing Director at this hotel said: “Daily occupancy rate of the hotel reaches from 55-60% on average, and it is set to soar to its higher rate in the upcoming public holidays".

Ms. Mai Thi Kim Oanh, Business Director of Da Nang GoldenBay Hotel located on Le Van Duyet Street, Son Tra District, said that since the beginning of 2021, the hotel has planned and carefully prepare for the return of travel and attract potential guests by offering great deals on its services and room rates.

“Since the beginning of March, we have seen a rise in hotel bookings. We hope that Da Nang will welcome a large number of tourist arrivals in the upcoming holidays ", Ms. Oanh said.
