Progress of Hoa Lien water plant kicked into high gear

Da Nang Party Committee Standing Deputy Secretary cum People’s Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, along with other city key leaders, on Monday paid a joint inspection visit to the Hoa Vang District-based construction site of the first stage of the Hoa Lien Water Plant.

During his visit, Standing Deputy Secretary Triet pointed out to the fact that, many parts of Da Nang, over recent early summer days, have faced a shortage of tap water. Therefore, that the Hoa Lien Water Plant will be put into operation on schedule plays an important role in ensuring water supplies for the whole city in the coming time.

The city leader urged competent local agencies to take very drastic measures to speed up the construction progress and complete the whole project as quickly as possible.

In particular, heed should be paid to accelerating site clearance to make way for the deployment of some work items within the framework of the project.

It is a must-do to fully comply with the legal regulations on the enforcement of land acquisition for affected families who have not yet handed over their property to the construction site.

As scheduled, the installation of equipment for a raw water pumping station at the plant, water treatment areas and raw water pipes will be completed by June 30, and put into trial operation by October 30.

Meanwhile, equipment assembly at the Nam My dam is slated to reach completion by October 30. The dam will start to accumulate water for operation in late October, and it will be fully completed by December 15.

The first stage of the project, with a daily water supply capacity of 120,000m3, features the building of a 13,606m2 reinforced concrete dam on the Cu De River, and a 727m2 raw water pumping station.

In particular, 1.4m- diameter and 10.616km-long raw water pipelines will be placed underground running from the pumping station in Hoa Bac Commune’s Nam My Village to the water treatment plant in Hoa Lien Commune’s Quan Nam 1 Village.

Besides, mixing, reaction, sedimentation, filtration, storage, sludge compression and chlorine tanks, a polymer mixer, storage houses, warehouses, security houses, and a parking area will be created.

“This work is of special significance in ensuring clean water supplies for homes and businesses in Da Nang, especially for urban areas, residential areas in the northwestern part of the city, and the Da Nang High-Tech Park, hereby helping ensure the long-term water security in the city. We will do our best to complete the whole project on schedule, with construction quality ensured”, Mr Le Sy Tien, Deputy General Director of the Song Da 9 Joint Stock Company, one of the water plant project’s contractors recently remarked.

As schedule, the second stage of the project will target at increasing the plant’s daily water supply capacity to 240,000 m3, thus meeting the city’s development requirements.
