The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on Wednesday started providing free transport of personnel who are assigned to join in the fight against the current COVID-19 wave in the northern provinces of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang, the biggest epicentres in Viet Nam.

The move came after a recent appeal made by the Health Minister on supporting localities heavily hit by COVID-19.

The eligible beneficiaries must be assigned by the Ministry of Health, the municipal/ provincial centres for disease control (CDCs) to take working trips to the above-mentioned hardest-hit localities

The airline also exempts luggage fees for those personnel, allowing them to take along more medical supplies and materials used for coronavirus prevention and treatment missions.

In order to receive transportation support from Vietnam Airlines, eligible passengers must show official work confirmation letters granted by the Ministry of Health, municipal/ provincial CDCs. They shall send Vietnam Airlines support ticket requests at least two days before the scheduled departure date at vanthu.corp@vietnamairrlines.com

The airline, in recent times, has carried out numerous flights to repatriate Vietnamese from abroad, or transport medical personnel and medical supplies to serve the COVID-19 fight in Viet Nam as well as to support other countries.
