The Viet Nam Electricity Group (EVN) has announced its plans for reducing electricity prices and power bills for certain groups of customers affected by the current COVID-19 wave for the third phase in seven months from June to December following the national government’s approval.

In detail, designated quarantine facilities, and venues for the medical examination of COVID-19 confirmed or suspected patients will enjoy free electricity.

As for medical facilities for COVID-19 examination, test and treatment, electricity bills will be entitled to a 20% discount.

Serviced accommodation facilities will benefit from the same electricity prices as manufacturers.

According to EVN's estimates, it will decrease the total amount of an estimated VND1,470 billion (excluding VAT) in electricity prices and electricity bills for serviced accommodation facilities and about VND100 billion in reduction for the above-mentioned COVID-19 prevention and control venues.

This is the third time that EVN has cut the electricity prices since COVID-19 broke out early last year.

The electricity price reduction has contributed to economic recovery and supporting low-income households, vulnerable people, lodging facilities and logistics companies.
