From now until July 5, 2021, the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Centre is conducting a survey of the pubic opinions and needs about staycation (a portmanteau of “stay” and “vacation”) by two forms of answering questions- through online or via paper forms.

Based on this survey, the city's tourism industry can grasp the psychology and needs of the general public, thereby proposing solutions and tourism products suitable to local residents’ demand for staycation once the COVID-19 resurgence is put under control.

The survey’s contents revolved around access channels to learn about staycation, factors that make the respondents decide to take staycation, the form and duration of stay, means of transport, an estimated budget for the trip and other related matters.

Anyone who wants to participate in the survey can visit https://forms.gle/MUNntK2ciCiX4YiA6.

In addition to answering the total 10 questions, participants can give constructive ideas and suggestions on promoting tourism products (Question No.11).

The 3 best ideas helping Da Nang encourage more locals to take staycation during the post-pandemic time will be awarded with VND1 million in cash and a pair of tickets to the Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park.

Under staycation (a portmanteau of “stay” and “vacation”), an individual or family stays home and participates in leisure activities within day trip distance of their home, and does not require overnight accommodation.

Staycations are a really interesting way to ‘scratch their travel itch’ by staying close to home rather than travelling to faraway places.

This form of travel is less about the journey itself and more about breaking old patterns and habits to discover something new and becoming open-minded. In fact, staycations also help ensure that hotels and resorts that usually cater to foreign travellers can keep running and working as normally as possible by catering to domestic ones.
