Secretary Quang affirmed that the development of traffic infrastructure at western end of the Tran Thi Ly Bridge is one of the city’s key projects which are of great significance t the local socio-economic development, including the relief of urban traffic jams.

In particular, the project is being implemented in an unfavourable location due to both carrying out construction whilst ensuring safe and smooth traffic movement. Moreover, the general public have always looked forward to seeing the project be put into use as soon as possible.

Over recent times, the city leaders have regularly assigned tasks and sent many delegations to the construction site to inspect and promptly give instructions to accelerate the progress of the project.

With regard to tasks set for the coming time, the municipal Party chief requested relevant units to focus on carrying out scientific traffic regulating measures to ensure smooth and safe movements of vehicles passing through the construction site. The whole project must be open to traffic not later than December 31, 2021.

Covering an area of 131,521m2 in the wards of Hoa Cuong Bac and Hoa Thuan Dong, Hai Chau District, the VND723 traffic re-arrangement project borders Binh Minh 6 Street to the north, 29 March to the south, the Han River to the east, and military agencies and residential areas to the west.

As planned, the billion traffic project will consist of 3 levels. The lowest level will be a 4-lane road tunnel taking Duy Tan under the busy junctions with Le Dinh Tham and the western end of the Tran Thi Ly Bridge. The upper level on ground will be a roundabout, whilst the highest level will be a 14m-wide 4-lane steel overpass over 2 September Street. There will also be two 6m-wide frontage roads at the both sides of the overpass.

In particular, the road tunnel will be fully equipped with ventilation, drainage, water supply, electricity, lighting and communications systems.

Once it is put into use, traffic project at the western end of the Tran Thi Ly Bridge will significantly reduce the current traffic congestion at intersections nearby during peak hours, in a tandem with reducing the volume of traffic on roads leading to the Da Nang International Airport.

During his check over the construction of a street and a bridge spanning the Co Co River
in Hoa Hai ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, Secretary Quang also highly appreciated the project’s relevant units for upholding their responsibilities and exerting great efforts in complete the asphalting of the bridge’s surface before June 15.
