Ensuring good practice of prevention measures against COVID-19 in tourism activities
In its efforts to ensure good practice of prevention measures against COVID-19 in tourism activities, Da Nang’s tourism industry has deployed many tourism applications such as e- medical declarations and the scanning of QR codes to managing all arrivals to serviced accommodation establishments and entertainment spots across the city.
According to an actual survey, many serviced accommodation establishments have temporarily suspended their operations under the COVID-19 threat. A few hotels that have still opened their doors now see a small number of guest, mainly business travellers with short-term stay.
Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism Nguyen Xuan Binh said that, in the coming time, the Department's Inspectorate will continue to coordinate with other relevant agencies to strengthen unscheduled inspection and strictly handle any actions going against COVID-19 prevention and control rules at serviced accommodation establishments, travel agencies and tourist attractions across the city.
Since the beginning of May, 2021, as per request by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Da Nang authorities have asked all serviced accommodation establishments across the city to promote COVID-19 safety registration and self-assessment amid the virus resurgence.
Under the request, serviced accommodation establishments must proactively make updates all information on their current guests, especially those who return from or passing through COVID-19- hit localities on their journeys, or have links to infection cases. Such cases must be immediately reported to local healthcare officials and the municipal Department of Tourism for timely guidance and appropriate medical interventions.
These establishments are also prohibited from holding receptions for groups of travellers from pandemic-hit localities and places where COVID-19 prevention and control rules remain in place.
Besides, heed must be paid to monitoring information on the virus resurgence at bit.ly/vungdich, as well as updating data and carrying out the COVID-19 registration, self-assessment on the Covid-19 safe living map at www.antoancovid.vn.
In particular, serviced accommodation establishments must visibly display their QR codes, which are generated in their accounts after successful registration at www.antoancovid.vn, at the reception halls or easy-to-observe areas, so that their guests can check through the ‘Safe Viet Nam Travel’ app. It is designed to make it easier for visitors to check how safe destinations are and feel more secure about their trip.
In addition, the municipal departments of Tourism, and Information and Communications to upgrade the online medical declaration software named eTicket-Da Nang, which aims to manage entries and exits at all wet markets across the city. Simply put, checks are conducted through smart phones/ tablet devices by scanning the QR codes for confirmation. It will support the city’s efforts in contact tracing if postive cases of COVID-19 are reported in any markets in the city.
