Four startup projects in Da Nang have been named amongst the recently-released top 100 Viet Nam Track of the Startup Wheel 2021, one of the largest and most intensive start-up events in Southeast Asia for young people who are passionate about startups.

The projects are the ‘Cancer ID - An App for cancer predictions and diagnosis’ by Hoang Phuc Hong Trang, ‘An Xuan Solanum procumbens by Tran Le Quynh Diem, ‘Shipway: Smart transportation’ by Duong Minh Hung, ‘Carus’- an digital conversion solution for local auto care service providers by Vo Thai Vu.

The competition has two tracks: SW Viet Nam Track – Accelerating local startups for the next development phase, tractions, and fundraising. SW International Track – Creating rooms for international startups expanding their business to the Viet Nam market and connecting with the startup ecosystem in Southeast Asia.

With regard to the event’s timelines displayed on the event’s official website, Top 50 selection round is running from June 14 to July 15. Semi-final round – Investment Day will take place on 6 August 2021. Investment Day is an online platform to connect Top 50 with potential investors, partners, and customers in Viet Nam as well as in Southeast Asia at large.

Each startup has a separate room on Zoom to pitch and interact with the judges and the attendees online. The judges and the attendees have an amount of “virtual money” to invest in their favorite startups on the platform.

The final round will be slated to take place on August 13. Top 5 have 2-minute pitching video and 10-minute Q&A with the Board of Judges via online. The final round will be streamed on YouTube and other social media channels.

Viet Nam Startup Day will be held offline at HCM City on 20 – 21 August. Top 50 would have a crowd pitch and a 2-day exhibition in front of 10,000 attendees in HCM City. Viet Nam Startup Day is the largest startup exhibition in Viet Nam taking place within 02 days in August annually. Key players at the event are from the Government, VCs, large corporations, startups accelerators/ incubators, associations, and startup support organisations.

The annual Startup Wheel 2021 is co-hosted by the Business Startup Support Centre (BSSC) and the Young Businesspeople Association (YBA) under the Viet Nam Youth Federation of Ho Chi Minh City.
It is a 6-month startup competition, running from March to August annually for startups and young entrepreneurs in all around the world.

Launched in March, the contest has attracted 1,900 startup projects from 24 countries, including Viet Nam.
