The Da Nang Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has submitted plans to the municipal government for the approval of the granting of an unexpected support package worth a total of nearly VND100 billion funded by the municipal budget for about 100,000 local residents financially struggling due to COVID-19 from May, 2021 to present.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van An, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, his agency’s staff have spent 10 days making surveys, sorting groups of beneficiaries and the level of support for them.

Under the plans, some basic principles are set out, such as ensuring timely support, to the right people, publicity and transparency, simple and easy criteria and procedures for the potential beneficiaries to access them.

If approved, the eligible people are expected to receive the financial support around late July 2021.

The soon-to-be-launched support package will target 3 specific groups.

The first group, with a total of more than 56,000 beneficiaries, consists of those making meritorious services to the revolution, living under the city’s poverty thresholds, suffering from serious illnesses, having physical weakness and being under social sponsor.

Under the plan, these people will receive one-time support of VND500,000 to VND1 million per person.

The second group, with about 33,000 beneficiaries, includes employees working without labour contracts in such aspects as education, transportation and tourism being suspended from work due to COVID-19, and a number of private preschool staffers, teachers, tourist boats’ crew members; drivers and their assistants on fixed-route taxies and contract vehicles with under 9 seats operating in Da Nang, tourist coaches, those working for travel agencies, tourism sites, serviced accommodation establishments, at-beach serve providers, lottery ticket sellers, barbershops, and housemaids.

Each of them is likely to get from VND1.5 million to VND3.71 million in aid.

In particular, tour guides may receive a maximum of VND 3.71 million per person.

As for the third group, 256 families that tout for business at nigh markets will access one-time support of VND3 million.
