Da Nang strives to complete many key projects in face of COVID-19 developments

Thanks to the on-schedule disbursement of investment capital and appropriate construction organisation, many key infrastructure projects across Da Nang have reached completion and put into use over recent times in a bid to promote investment efficiency regardless of the negative impacts of the ongoing COVID-19 rage.

According to Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Tran Thi Thanh Tam since late 2020, the municipal government has made specific timelines for starting and completing projects and stipulated the disbursement rate to each specific timeframe of 2021.

After a period of construction amid the complicated developments of COVID-19, a number of projects and work items that have been completed and put into use. Prominent amongst them were the new headquarters of the Da Nang Delegation of National Assembly (NA) Deputies and the municipal People’s Council at 32 Bach Dang, the upgrade and renovation of the sidewalks of Tran Cao Van and Nui Thanh streets.

Meanwhile, work has started on a number of new construction investment projects such as a waste transfer station in Son Tra District, a parking square at the end of Nguyen Sinh Sac Street and the renovation of the Da Nang Employment Service Centre.

In particular, a number of projects have been put into use to meet a growing demand for traffic infrastructure.

Prominently, the overpass on September 2 Street, as part of the under-construction traffic infrastructure project at western end of the Tran Thi Ly Bridge, opened to traffic on July 14.

The overpass runs over a section of September 2 Street, passing by Duy Tan Street, in Hai Chau District.

The overpass is 191.4m long, including 5 spans of steel box girders combined with reinforced concrete slabs with a width of 14m and a system of approach and frontage roads.

The operation of overpass aims to ensure traffic movement in tandem with serving the construction of the tunnel and the roundabout as part of the whole traffic infrastructure project at western end of the Tran Thi Ly Bridge.

The whole traffic infrastructure project will be open to traffic not later than December 31, 2021 as per recent request of the municipal administration.

Meanwhile, the construction of abridge spanning the Co Co River and its approach roads in Hoa Hai ward, Ngu Hanh Son District is progressing well. The entire project is expected to be completed right in the third quarter of 2021 so that it can be put into use soon.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Tam, speeding up the disbursement of investment capital will act as a lever to promote construction progress and ensure completion on time.

In the immediate future, focus will be on promoting the disbursement of public investment capital to speed up the progress of projects, especially key large-scale ones such as the Hoa Lien Water Plant, the first phase of Da Nang Software Park No. 2, a water environment improvement project in the eastern area of Son Tra District, the upgrade of Ngo Quyen and Ngu Hanh Son streets.

In addition, the local authorities are urgently carrying out the selection of contractors for the development of other key projects. Included are the upgrade of the 42 Bach Dang facility into the Museum of Da Nang and Cam Le District-based Khue Trung pumping station, the second stage of the city-first ever automated parking garage located at 255 Phan Chau Trinh in Hai Chau District, the first stage of another parking garage at 166 Hai Phong Street, an anti-landslide embankment system along Qua Giang River, and the building of a centralised and multi-functional monitoring and operating centre.
