Regarding COVID-19 prevention and control tasks, according to Director of the municipal Department of Health Ngo Thi Kim Yen, the healthcare sector’ staff have collected nasal swab samples for COVID-19 from nearly 1 million peoples, achieving the goal of 100% households citywide and all locals in locked-down areas testing for the virus
Amid the Delta variant spreading very quickly and the incubation process turning complicated, in the coming time, the municipal administration will continue to take stronger measures to detect and isolate positive cases from the community at the soonest.
In particular, the 5K recommendations adopted by the Ministry of Health and the use of anti-droplet hats must be put in practice.
According to Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Le Thi Kim Phuong, it is highly possible that municipal authorities will allow supermarkets, trade centres and convenience store chains to increase the number of their at-work employees to 60% to ensure on-time food preparations and delivery processes for locals amid the stay-at-home mandate.
In particular, supermarkets will be permitted to hire app-based delivery people on motorbikes, locally known as shippers” from 8:00am on August 26.
However, these app-based shippers must tested negative for the coronavirus, have travel permits issued by the Da Nang Police Department, and comply to the soc-called motto "1 road, 2 destinations" which means they must travel between the sales points and delivery addresses.
Since July 10, the whole city has detected more than 3,100 COVID-19 cases. However, thanks to its great efforts, till date, two major infection chains, namely at the Tho Quang fishing wharf and the blockaded area of Son Tra District, have been well controlled. Currently, the city’s coronavirus hotspots are detected in Hoa Thuan Dong, Hoa Cuong Nam and Hoa Cuong Bac wards in Hai Chau District; Khue Trung and Hoa An wards in Cam Le District and Vinh Trung Ward in Thanh Khe District.
“In the long term, the city will continue to take drastic measures to ensure no community-acquired infections are missed.
However, the more important measure is the efficient vaccination for all locals to achieve the herd immunity target. The city has enough capacity to ensure timely inoculation for its residents upon the reception of vaccine doses from the Ministry of Health and other legal sources.
Depending on the vaccination situation and other conditions, appropriate socio-economic management measures for each period will be taken accordingly.
For the time being, functional local agencies are mapping out plans to reopen the traditional market at an appropriate time, depending on the developments of the current coronavirus wave.
The Hoa Cuong Wholesale and Con markets are expected to re-assume their operations in the coming time, whilst each district will re-open 2 - 3 traditional markets.
All Da Nang-based press agencies must continue to accompany the city in the tough fight against the pandemic.
