Decrease in supply of dried food observed in Da Nang amid COVID-19
As observed at some grocery stores and supermarkets Da Nang-wide, the demand for dried food has increased sharply over recent days.
In fact, during the ongoing social distancing period with a limited offline shopping frequency, ‘my an lien’ instant noodles, dried ‘bun’ (vermicelli) and ‘pho’ (Vietnamese beef noodle soup) and canned food are amongst the bestsellers at grocery stores and supermarkets.
However, there has recently been a shortage of these much-favoured items. Even at some large grocery stores, many types of dried vermicelli and instant noodles have been out of stock amid the pandemic.
According to a representative of the Big C Mall, currently, dried products are only enough to serve retail customers. So, this shopping centre has said ‘no’ to bulk orders.
In reality, the amount of goods on shelves at the mall is only 50% of the figured recorded before. Such a supply shortage is mainly attributed to the fact that their suppliers’ transport partners reported some COVID-19 cases.
