Food relief secured for Da Nang residents during 7 days of stay-at-home mandate
The Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade is now on mission to ensure the timely delivery of food sponsored by the businesses citywide to all local districts for the distribution to all citizens in the ongoing 7-day period during which all local residents must stay at home at all times.
A total of 1,400 tonnes of fresh fruit, tubers and vegetables are on way to local districts, with 280 tonnes for Hai Chau District, 256 tonnes for Thanh Khe District, 222 tonnes for Son Tra District, 129 tonnes for Ngu Hanh Son District, 233 tonnes for Cam Le District and 280 tonnes for Lien Chieu District.
On Monday afternoon, 157 out of the 222 tonnes of fruit and vegetables were transported to Son Tra District whilst 4,500 gifts containing fresh and dried food reached Ngu Hanh Son District on Monday afternoon.
Likewise, the first batch of over 300 tonnes of fruit and tubers sponsored by the Phuong Trang - Futa Group arrived at the Thanh Khe and Hai Chau districts on Tuesday noon.
As per request of the municipal People's Committee, the Department of Industry and Trade and the district-level authorities have also appealed for generous donations from the business community to make the purchase of goods to those who now live under or near the poverty thresholds during the in-force social distance rule.
Accordingly, 30,000 gifts including fresh and dried food will be distributed to 10,067 poor households, 4,147 others living under the poverty thresholds and 15,786 disadvantaged ones.
Specifically, these gifts are expected to be presented to 3,732 eligible families in Hai Chau District, 3,500 in Thanh Khe District, 4,675 in Son Tra District, 4,500 in Ngu Hanh Son District, 3,256 in Cam Le District, 5,203 in Lien Chieu District and 5,134 in Hoa Vang District.
