Many economic indicators drop in July due to COVID-19 impacts
July saw a decline in many economic development indicators in Da Nang, showing the negative impacts of COVID-19 on the local economic performance, the Da Nang General Statistics Office recently said.
The revenue generated from lodging and catering services stood at only VND526 billion equaling 63.1% as compared to the previous month and down 71.4% over the same period last year.
In particular, the accommodation service generated VND45 billion, equaling 66.2% of the figure recorded in the previous month and declined by 90.1% over the same period last year.
The industrial production index went down by 4.9% from the previous month.
The consumption index of the whole processing and manufacturing industry decreased by 3.8% from the previous month, whilst the inventory index increased by 3.4%.
Noticeably, the bright spot in July was the impressive performance of import and export activities with a high increase as compared to the same period last year.
The total merchandise import and export value was estimated at US$260 million, up 6.9% over the year-ago period.
In detail, the export turnover was estimated at US$151.1 million, up nearly 8.9%, and the import turnover climbed by 4.3% to stand at US$108.9 million.
The January - July period saw a total export and import turnover of US$1,745 million, a rise of 16.9% from the same period last year.
