Da Nang is now attached importance to soon implementing key trade and service development projects such as developing industries and services related to yachts in the city, effectively boosting logistics services in connection with the central key economic zone and the East-West Economic Corridor by 2030, with a vision towards 2045, and giving a facelift to markets serving tourists’ shopping needs.

Ms. Le Thi Kim Phuong, the Director of the Department of Industry recently said that, in addition to the above-mentioned projects, her agency is developing a plan for maintaining the stature of the Con Market, one of the largest in Da Nang, as a traditional, civilised and modern shopping venue, in tandem with embellishing the downtown Han Market with ‘an attractive new coat’.

In particular, how to effectively exploit the functionality of the Da Nang International Exhibition and Convention Centre will be taken into account.

In addition, favoruable conditions will be created for investors to develop logistics service infrastructure, build shopping centers, commercial centres and supermarkets with international-class brands, and form chains of duty-free shops, non-tariff zones and points selling good-quality products of clear origin.

Digital transformation in the field of commerce is now an urgent requirement, especially during the city’s flexible adaptation to the COVID-19 situation. The city, therefore, in a proactive manner, has developed an e-commerce promotion plan in the city in the 2021 - 2025 period by connecting e-commerce businesses with manufacturers and distributors to well manage the supply chain.

Other tasks include the upgrade of e-commerce trading floors, the organisation of online trade promotion activities to support domestic product consumption and exports to foreign markets, the building of an online shopping map, and more support for local businesses to effectively apply digital solutions in their operations.

The remaining months of this year are the peak time of vibrant trade promotion activities, serving as a chance to stimulate consumer demand. The coming time is likely to witness a wide range of trade and industrial promotion activities running in depth, in order to help businesses expand the consumer market in accordance with the actual situation.

In addition, in the context of complicated developments of COVID-19, the local industry and trade industry will effectively implement trade activities, supply and demand connections, boost joint ventures and linkages between enterprises in the city and other localities throughout the country, and target overseas businesses by promoting information and intensive training on contents related to international economic integration.

Last, but not least, greater efforts will be exerted to help enterprises improve production capacity, competitiveness, and market expansion and the development of brands, especially key, typical products and ‘One Commune – One Product’ (OCOP) items.
