New bridge over Co Co River inaugurated in Da Nang

The new bridge over Co Co River was inaugurated on Saturday morning, October 30, with a sober ceremony in the presence of Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang and municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh.

In his remarks at the ribbon cutting ceremony to officially inaugurate the new bridge, Chairman Chinh stated that infrastructure investment has always been held as a key force for Da Nang’s sustainable socioeconomic development. Hence, the past years have seen the changing face of the city as it has constantly invested in developing and upgrading strategic transport infrastructure projects, Mr Chinh emphasized.

As part of Da Nang’s Traffic Infrastructure Improvement Project, the new bridge becomes an important link between the eastern coastal area of Da Nang and the city centre, the airport, and such newly- formed residential areas in the southeast part of the city Hoa Xuan and FPT urban areas.

The new bridge has taken over 18 months to build, and it is now open for traffic. It will play a vital role in driving the city’s socio-economic development.

The new bridge starts at the intersection of Tran Dai Nghia and Vo Chi Cong streets, and ends at the intersection of Vo Qui Huan and Co Co riverside road in Tan Tra residential area, Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District.

The construction of the bridge costs over VND 172 billion, and work started on the project on February 3, 2020.

The new 113.8-meter long and 27-meter-wide bridge has three spans with a span of 50 m and two flanking sections with a span of 25 m each. The arch bridge over Co Co River is made from reinforced concrete. The new bridge has a special structural design, contributing to the diversity of bridge types in Da Nang.

The 6-lane bridge and its approaches have a total length of 1,163m and were developed by the Management Board for the city's Priority Infrastructure Investment Projects. The construction of the bridge was funded by the OPEC Fund for International Development and the city's budget.
