The Sai Gon Railway Transport Joint Stock Company announced on November 2 that it will suspend the operation of a pair of SE3 / SE4 passenger trains on the Ha Noi - Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) route starting from tomorrow, November 3, due to a significant drop in demand for rail travel.

Specifically, from November 3, only the pairs of trains coded SE5/SE6 and SE7/SE8 will daily operate on the Ha Noi-HCMC route.

SE5 train will daily depart from Ha Noi at 5:25pm and arrive in HCMC at 5:50am while SE6 train will daily leave the Saigon Railway Station at 5:20pm and arrive in Ha Noi at 5:21am.

On November 1, the Ha Noi Railway Transport JSC announced the temporary halt of a pair of NA1/NA2 trains travelling on the Ha Noi - Vinh route from November 1.

Before the scheduled departure, full refund of fare shall be admissible for confirmed passengers with SE3/SE4 and NA1/NA2 train tickets.

According to the Viet Nam Railways Corporation, during the pilot phase of reopening passenger trains from October 21- 27, a sum of 98 trains operated nationwide, transporting more than 23,400 passengers in total. However, due to the gradual decline in the number of train passengers, the railway industry had to suspend the operation of a pair of SE21/22 trains running on the HCMC - Da Nang route from October 25.
