Da Nang electrical workers are observed staying active at work.

This was one of the remarkable instructions made by Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Tran Phuoc Son whilst addressing a meeting on Thursday to review the first five years of the implementation of the electricity development master plan in the city during the 2016 – 2025 period, with a vision towards 2035.

In addition to ensuring sufficient electricity supplies to all local residents, under the direction of the Department of Industry and Trade, the local electricity industry must have enough capacity to serve the city’s economic development cause, especially the implementation of many large-sale and highly-important projects such as forming new industrial zones and clusters, expanding the existing Da Nang Hi-tech Park, and constructing the Lien Chieu Port and the Lang Van tourist urban area.

According to a report recently released by the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, over the past five years, Da Nang has developed many important power projects as well as actively supported connections with the national power grid.

Da Nang is the transshipment area of North-South power source capacity as both North-South 500kV transmission lines pass through the city with a total length of 125.5km.

The 220kV grid structure with a total length of 264.9km ensures safe power supplies for the city.

Overhead power lines have been put underground along such major streets as Le Duan, Tran Phu, Dien Bien Phu, Nguyen Van Linh, Cach Mang Thang Tam, Hoang Sa, Truong Sa and September 2, at the Da Nang Hi-tech Park and some new residential areas.

Currently, the Da Nang Power Company Limited is continuing to improve the operating capacity of the local power grid.

By 2030, Da Nang will have put the existing overhead power lines along 27 major downtown streets underground at a total cost of nearly VND630 billion.
