Multi-purpose park

The Park’s forerunner is the namesake sculpture garden which initially covered an area of only about 3,000m2 on a triangular-shaped land area next to the western end of the ‘Rong’ (Dragon) Bridge and in front of the Museum of Cham Sculpture. The original garden was inaugurated on November 9, 2017 to serve the display of 18 sculptures from APEC member economies on the occasion of the APEC Summit held in the city in the same year.

On September 24, 2018, the Da Nang People's Committee approved the detailed plan of the expanded APEC Sculpture Park with a total area of 8,668m2 at a total cost of more than VND759 billion funded by the city’s budget.

The move aimed to turn this special park into a new must-visit attraction, featuring special cultural characteristics of Da Nang, for any visitors arriving in Da Nang in tandem with contributing to affirming the city’s firm stature as a dynamic urban area in Central Viet Nam in the process of global integration.

On January 10, 2022, the expanded complex which stands in harmony with the status quo of the namesake garden, was inaugurated, attracting a great deal of public attention and applause.
With a construction density of 32.8%, the expanded project comprises one basement, two semi-floating floors.

The first floor comprises a rest space, a souvenir sales service area, a tourism information area for visitors and a public toilet. The second floor is designed with community space, trees, fountains and walkways. The basement consists of public parking areas and technical rooms.

The highlight of the expanded project is the kite-shaped arch entitled ‘High Flying Kite’, which was made of nearly 200 tonnes of raw steel and installed by the Da Nang-based Ha Giang- Phuoc Tuong Mechanical JSC.

In addition, there are a public park, lawns, walkways, a stroll gardens and other auxiliary facilities. Coming to the expanded APEC Sculpture Garden, visitors can immerse themselves into relaxing moments of strolling along the western bank of the iconic Han River.

The city also hopes the park will be an art performance and display rendezvous for visitors and residents at the weekend.

Must-do to effectively manage and use the APEC Sculpture Park

According to an official dispatch released by the Da Nang People's Committee, Hai Chau District administration is assigned to manage and operate the expanded APEC Sculpture Park project which was developed by the Da Nang Infrastructure Construction and Urban Development Project Management Board.

The handover of the entire APEC Park to the Hai Chau District People's Committee aims to unify the focal point in the management, operation and exploitation of this project, with a connection with a route dedicated for pedestrians and bicycle riders stretching along the Rong (Dragon) Bridge - Bach Dang Street- Nguyen Van Troi Bridge, thereby ensuring social order for all attractions in the area.
