This year's Tet decorations are quite diverse, and sophisticated in designs, but their prices have not increased much as compared to the previous year.

Specifically, a bunch of artificial apricots and peaches is priced at VND150,000, a string of decorative coins at between VND100,000 and VND150,000, lanterns at between VND70,000 and VND120,000 each, a string of large firecrackers at VND300,000 and a string of small ones at VND250,000, a pair of red couplets at VND100,000-VND250,000, a branch of artificial flowers at VND20,000, a string of flash lights at VND12,000, wallpaper at VND35,000 /meter, and mirror wallpaper at VND25,000/meter.

Most notably, 2022 is the Year of Tiger, so Tet decorations related to the image of tiger have been drawn much attention from shoppers, including red envelops, wallpapers, and greeting cards and good luck symbols which will be hung from Tet trees.

Besides, handmade silk flowers are also quite diverse. On this Tet holiday, odd branches of such artificial flowers as roses, peaches, apricots and tulips are well-liked by many people. Accordingly, pre-decorated pots of artificial flowers are being offered at the prices of from over VND200,000 to VND2 million depending on types of flowers.

The owner of the Kim Sa stationery store on Nguyen Duy Hieu Street in Son Tra District remarked that this year’s decorative products were in beautiful, sophisticated and eye-catching designs. She added that most of products on sale were made in Viet Nam.

Flower vases and pots are considered to be indispensable for decorating homes, especially living rooms, for Tet. Gradually replacing glass vases with monotonous colors and designs, ceramic vases are becoming attractive to buyers with diverse designs, and luxurious and classic styles.

Pottery and porcelain vases are now available along the sidewalks of Nui Thanh and Le Duan streets, and they are often sourced from pottery villages in North Viet Nam such as Bat Trang in Ha Noi, and Chu Dau in Hai Duong Province.

Especially, in recent days, the Hang Heo Market next to the Con Market has been crowded with customers who come to buy all kinds of plastic baskets, bamboo mats, water jars, etc. in order to decorate Tet rural markets or rural houses.

According to Mr. Vo Hoai Thanh, residing in Khue My Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, in recent years, his family often create a replica of a rural landscape at a corner of the yard in his house. The purpose was to help his children understand about the rural village with bamboo ramparts, thatched roofs, and street vendors, as well as create a beautiful place for his relatives and friends to visit and take souvenir pictures.

As noted, due to the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people will prefer to stay at home to celebrate Tet with their family members and relatives rather than to go out. Therefore, creating Tet atmosphere right at home is also a way to welcome the largest traditional festival in the context of unpredictable COVID-19.
