During her Friday reception for British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Oliver Todd, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairwoman Ngo Thi Kim Yen said that, although no official partnership between the city and British localities have been established till date, bilaterial group exchanges have been maintained regularly.

Every year, the city welcomes many British diplomatic, government and business delegations whilst the representatives of the Da Nang administration make working trips to the UK. Cooperation activities in trade, investment and education between Da Nang and the UK have also been maintained effectively.

According to Vice Chairwoman Yen, Da Nang is identified as the growth nucleus of the key central economic region, creating a driving force to promote development for the central and Central Highlands regions of Viet Nam.

The Da Nang leader hoped that, in the coming time, Mr. Oliver Todd will help connect Da Nang with British organisations and businesses, thereby further expanding bilateral cooperation in many potential fields and contributing to strengthening the fruitful relationship between the two countries.

On his part, Mr. Oliver Todd expressed his deep impression about Da Nang’s outstanding development strides over the past time and highly appreciated the city’s efforts in promoting digitisation in the financial fields and providing public services in a flexible and efficient manner.

According to Mr. Oliver Todd, the UK boasts strengths in the fields of digital transformation, green transformation, healthcare, finance and education, and it is willing to help Da Nang build a smart city model, promote Industry 4.0 technologies, waste treatment, renewable and green energy, and enhance climate change mitigation and resilience.

In particular, he promised to call on more British partners and businesses to seek investment opportunities in Da Nang’s priority aspects.
