Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of Da Nang Tourism Association: Locating a source of visitors in 2022
The Da Nang tourism industry has built a great orientation on how to re-develop Da Nang tourism into one of the 3 development pillars and one of the 5 key economic aspects in Da Nang.
For the time being, the local tourism business community is very ready for welcoming tourists back.
This year, the Association’s members will focus mainly on domestic visitors, especially those on the demands for staycation (a portmanteau of “stay” and “vacation”) and travellers from neighboring localities and traditional potential markets such as Ho Chi Minh City and other northern and southern localities.
Given encouraging facts such as the effective control of COVID-19 and the rapid vaccine coverage rate, it is forecasted that, from June 2022, domestic tourists will return to Da Nang.
In July and August, tourists from the city’s main international markets such as the Republic of Korea, China, Japan, Thailand and Taiwan (China) will make Da Nang visits, and those far away from the city as Australia and the U.S. will come back to the city by the end of this year.
2022 marks timely preparations for the hope that the non-smoke industry in 2023 and 2024 will return to the peak as in 2019.
* Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Chairman of Da Nang Travel Association: Domestic tourism will be a source of revitalizing energy
Identifying domestic tourism as the main driving force in 2022, the Da Nang Travel Association has launched attractive stimulus policies for a boost in domestic tourism.
The goal is to attract domestic tourists back to Da Nang after the Lunar New Year break and reach maximum tourist arrivals by this summer.
It is strongly believed that domestic tourism will be a source of revitalizing energy for the Da Nang tourism in the near future.
In order to temp more tourists back to this tourism hub, the Association is working together with the travel associations of neighbouring localities to create different and attractive travel programmes.
Also, this agency will actively link with digital transformation service providers to build a common digital transaction platform for businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
* Mr. Nguyen Nhu Nam, Director of Da Nang Tourism Development Promotion Fund: Restoration and growth of the domestic market
In 2022, the Da Nang Tourism Development Promotion Fund will focus on restoring the growth of the domestic market, with priority given to attracting visitors from neighbouring provinces and cities in the Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands regions, the North and the South.
The priority will be given to groups of family travellers, children and those on business trips and during long-term stay periods.
At the same time, the city will publicise Da Nang’s image as a safe, friendly and hospitable destination to domestic and international tourists amidst the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic around the world.
To gradually recover the international tourist market, in which priority should be given to focusing on traditional markets that are capable of early recovery and have a high vaccination rate such as Republic of Korea, Japan and Southeast Asia, expanding potential international markets such as Western Europe, Australia, North America and India.
In particular, the ‘Safe tourism adapting to the COVID-19 pandemic’ seminar will take place in March 2022 to publicise Da Nang tourism restoration and development plans in 2022.
Besides, Da Nang tourism culinary books will be published as gifts for guests and partners of the Fund.
The Fund will also implement the theme ‘Developing tourism in Da Nang associated with the Cham Culture in 2022’ and coordinate with the Department of Tourism to focus resources on advertising the city’s image to key international markets such as the Republic of Korea, Japan and Qatar in the second half of 2022.
As expected, in June, 2022, mainly domestic tourists and a part of the international tourists, especially the Northeast Asian market will recover at the earliest.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh, Chairman of the Da Nang Hotel Association: Prepare resources for reopening
At the beginning of 2022, hotel and resort businesses are ‘very happy’ because the number of bookings has increased, although not as much as in 2019. This is a good signal for the tourism industry to begin its recovery journey.
With the national government's orientation to open all international commercial flights to Viet Nam from May 1, 2022, the Association believes that this summer will be an exciting season for the city's tourism industry.
The Association has kicked off many activities to help its members prepare resources and facilities for the reopening process.
2022 will be a busy year for the hotel industry with activities to strengthen service and facilities as well as improve the professional skills of human resources.
The Association has actively divided into regular working groups for business promotion, judicial and advisory affairs, digital transformation, event organisation and community responsibility respectively.
