According to the Viet Nam General Department of Taxation, foreign suppliers now have no permanent establishment in Viet Nam, business activities are mainly done through the digital environment and on Internet applications. Traditional forms of tax registration, declaration and payment may no longer be appropriate and cause difficulties to implement.
In order to respond well to the new situation, improve the efficiency of tax administration as well as create favourable conditions for foreign suppliers to fulfill their tax obligations to the State budget of Viet Nam, the General Department of Taxation has built a portal exclusively for foreign supplier operating on digital platform.
The portal makes it easier for foreign suppliers with business on digital platforms in Viet Nam to register, declare and pay taxes. Also, the portal helps foreign suppliers to look up information, learn more about the tax laws and legal policies on e-commerce in Viet Nam.
In addition, foreign suppliers can make tax payments in the simplest, easiest and most convenient way via Etax-Mobile app.
Currently, the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank), the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) and the Military Commercial JSC (MBBank) have offered the e-tax payment services through Etax-Mobile.
According to the Finance Ministry, tax payments made by foreign suppliers between 2018 and December 2021 exceeded 4.4 trillion VND (192.47 million USD)./.
The fact that the tax sector is expanding communication channels to support searching information on tax obligations, tax returns, and tax payments anytime and anywhere not only creates convenience for people but also contributes to limiting social contact in the community amidst COVID-19 and promotion of cashless payments.
