Da Nang cooperatives gear up production, trade and consumption of products

Da Nang-based cooperatives have overcome many challenges and difficulties triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, in tandem with expanding production and business activities, and increasing product introduction and consumption.

More recently, the Mat Troi Viet (Viet Sun) Hi-tech Cooperative has launched the Phu Ong Bakery to produce and display all cakes of all kinds, especially new ones including milk tea, fresh cream, salted egg sponge and chrysanthemum-shaped and flavoured cakes at 255-257 Chinh Huu, Phuoc My Ward, Son Tra District.

Before that, at the end of 2021, the Mat Troi Viet Hi-tech Cooperative launched new products, including Ngoc Linh natural ginseng ginseng and coconut rice cookies.

In particular, on the box of these two cakes, there are biographies and brief stories about Trung sisters and Buddha Emperor Tran Nhan Tong.

Director of Mat Troi Viet Hi-tech Cooperative Dinh Nguyen Hoang Thu said: “Two products of Ngoc Linh natural ginseng biscuits and newly- launched coconut rice cookies have been well consumed by the cooperative during the traditional Lunar New Year festival (Tet), so cooperative members very excited.

Some newly launched fresh bread products are also purchased by many customers. We now have more than 50 product lines on sale in the market.”

In a similar vein, the Hoa Phu Agricultural Cooperative has also just opened a venue to display and sell OCOP (One Commune- One Product), agricultural products and clean food, as well as provide agricultural services next to Hoa Phu Market in Dong Lam Village, Hoa Phu commune, Hoa Vang District.

Besides introducing and selling well-known products of the cooperative such as Phu Tuc wine, Ngoi Sao (Star) rice paper cakes and cantaloupes. There are also fresh vermicelli, clean vegetables, bananas and more than 30 products made by 13 local cooperatives such as Nam O and Huong Lang Co fish sauce, Dai Duong (Ocean) seaweed, Kim Thanh mushrooms, Hoa Bac evil chicken eggs, Dong Nghe grilled fish balls.

The cooperative members believe that this product display, introduction and sale venue would become a rest stop for tourists on the way from the city centre to the eco-tourism sites of Hoa Phu Commune.

“Each member of the cooperative always tries to boost production technology transfer to increase quality and constantly expand production and product consumption. We always renew, diversify products, boost consumption, create value chains of agricultural products to become a must-visit sales point for tourists during their travel journeys.”, said Mr. Ho Phuoc Cuong, a representative of Hoa Phu Agricultural Cooperative.

According to Mr. Ton That Uyen, Vice Chairman of the municipal Cooperative Alliance, since the beginning of 2022, this agency has supported 13 cooperatives to participate in fairs and assisted them in the setting up of booths of displaying their products for sale.

The city’s Cooperative Development Support Fund has provided VND 500 million in loans for a project. Agricultural cooperatives have made efforts to overcome difficulties caused by the COVID-19 impacts to restore production and business, and increased income for their members and employees.

In the coming time, the municipal Cooperative Alliance will focus on reorganising the operating activities of centres for consulting and supporting cooperatives and small and medium-sized enterprises, setting up the showroom for introducing and selling products, and linking cooperatives’ trading floors with the website of the municipal Cooperative Alliance for the sake of better product consumption, thereby effectively supporting cooperatives to expand production, trade and product consumption.

Currently, Da Nang houses 135 cooperatives and unions of cooperatives operating with a total charter capital of over VND 345 billion, attracting 9,463 members, creating jobs for 14,893 workers. In addition, the city is home to 274 cooperative groups with a total business capital of more than VND40 billion, total asset value of nearly VND46.5 billion, consisting 2,159 members and creating stable jobs for more than 4,500 employees. The cooperative groups have operated relatively effectively, especially the those operating at sea, which have contributed to protecting the Fatherland’s sovereignty over the sea and islands.
