As part of their working trip in Da Nang, a delegation of the National Steering Committee 389 on Anti-smuggling, Counterfeit Goods and Trade Fraud on Thursday took inspection visits to the Tien Sa port, Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, the Da Nang International Airport and some businesses across the city. The move aimed to assess the handling of such matters as smuggling and illegally transporting counterfeit and fake goods at the aforementioned sites.

Representatives from the Da Nang chapter of the National Steering Committee 389 delivered their forecast the developments in the production and trading of banned, smuggled, counterfeit and unsecured goods in the coming time and propose appropriate measures to promptly combat the smuggling and illegal transportation of these prohibited goods across borders, border gates, and seaports, and especially cracking down on the trading in goods of foreign origin illegally imported into Viet Nam.

According to the assessment of the national delegation, in 2020 and 2021, the situation of smuggling acts, commercial frauds and counterfeit products in Da Nang recorded a sharp decrease due to the COVID-19 impacts.

However, in the coming time, once the pandemic is put under control. The smuggling acts, commercial frauds and transportation of counterfeit products will be complicated again because Da Nang is one of the key sea border gateways of Central Viet Nam. Therefore, functional bodies must take more effective measures to address this issue of deep concern.

Focus on cracking down on smuggling acts, commercial frauds and counterfeit products on sale on e-commerce platforms, and strictly handling those who take advantage of e-commerce activities to commit acts of smuggling, trade frauds and counterfeit goods.

Heed will be paid to advising the public against assisting smugglers, and actively participating in detecting and denouncing crimes and violations of the law related to smuggling, trade frauds and counterfeit goods.

In addition, the city will promote the campaign ‘Vietnamese people give priority to consuming Vietnamese goods’ to contribute to creating positive changes in consumers' shopping behaviour and habits in the city, and promoting domestically-made products to domestic and foreign tourists in particular.
