Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh on Wednesday chaired an online working session with the World Bank (WB) delegation to discuss areas of mutual interest and possible cooperation in the coming time.
At the meeting, WB experts presented their assessment of Da Nang strengths. Accordingly, Da Nang has a strategic position in Central Viet Nam and is the transport hub of the region.
Also, it possesses a strong economic foundation, good governance, and upgraded infrastructure to help promote urban development.
Da Nang has also become a famous tourist destination with its rich natural conditions and cultural heritage.
However, the central Vietnamese city is facing challenges in adaptability and sustainable development, quality of life and tourism competitiveness and investment capital.
The WB can support Da Nang through a variety of appropriate activities to improve quality of life, resilience and economic growth.
The objectives of the joint working group between the WB and Da Nang include identifying actions for sustainable development, developing priority programmes and implementing priority programmes.
Chairman Chinh highly appreciated the comments and analysis made by the WB expert group. Over the past time, Da Nang and this international financial institution have built up an effective and transparent cooperation relationship in many aspects.
The Da Nang government chief has assigned the municipal Department of Finance to act as the focal point to coordinate with other relevant agencies to propose projects in which Da Nang shows great interest and could cooperate with the WB.
After that, the city will select field groups, make action frameworks, and build working groups to proceed these cooperative projects in the coming time.
