Da Nang receives great aids and support from foreign organisations

Following recent approval by the Da Nang People's Committee, the Office of Foreign Economic Relations under the Department of Planning and Investment has set up procedures for receiving aids, development assistance and COVID-19 prevention and control equipment in donations from foreign agencies and organisations.

Accordingly, the Danish International Development Agency, through the organisation iDE (International Development Enterprises), will provid VND34.5 billion in funding for the implementation of a project on building a sustainable circular economy for plastic waste in Da Nang during the 2021 – 2024 period.

The municipal Department of Natural Resources and the Environment will be in charge of implementing this project.

Meanwhile, in another one, the Da Nang Union of Science and Technology Associations shall carry out a project on the movement of building zero -waste schools in Viet Nam.

Funded by the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives (GAIA-Philippines) the VND 182 million project will be carried out by the Da Nang BUS Centre.

The project will feature specific research, training and evaluation activities in Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, hereby contributing to the goal of strengthening management, reuse, recycling, treatment and reduction of plastic waste in Da Nang.

Hoa Vang District will receive funding from foreign units to implement two social projects.

In detail, the programme of supporting single poor women in Hoa Vang District to strengthen their capacity and improve their family’s income. This programme will be implemented in the 2021 - 2024 period at a cost of more than VND1.8 billion funded by the Children of Vietnam.

Children of Vietnam will also sponsor more than VND1.54 billion for Hoa Vang to implement the programme of granting scholarships to 25 students living financially difficult circumstances in three academic years in the 2021 – 2024 period.

With regard to support for the city to implement COVID-19 prevention and control missions, Da Nang will receive aid from the Japanese city of Kawasaki.

Accordingly, the municipal Department of Health will receive 96 Super Hakari Mist disinfectant spray bottles of 150 ml estimated at a total of nearly VND39 million.

Also, the Embassy of Ireland in Ha Noi, through Family Health International (FHI 360) has provided Da Nang with N95 masks, standard medical masks, protective gears, anti-droplet shields, medical examination gloves with a combined total of more than VND415 million.

These donated items will be used for COVID-19 prevention tasks at the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital, the Lung Hospital and the Hoa Vang District Medical Centre.
