Da Nang wet markets run cashless payment
Traders at wet markets in Da Nang are now able to go cashless as they can use e-wallet mobile app Viettel Money under a 4.0 wet market model that made its debut on Friday as a joint coordination between the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade and the Da Nang branch of the Military-run Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel Da Nang).
The new model aims to accelerate digital transformation and use of the non-cash payment method at local wet markets and facilitate local residents to experience modern payment services.
Owners of over 1,000 stalls at Da Nang’s three major wet markets, namely Con, Han and Dong Da – have been provided with QR codes enabling users to make online payments through access with 37 banks and Viettel Money.
It is known that the wet market 4.0 model in Da Nang has received many positive feedbacks.
So far, more than 1,000 small merchants in the 3 markets have registered for Viettel Money's payment acceptance services and the number is on the upward trend everyday.
In the coming time, the Department of Industry and Trade and Viettel Da Nang will continue to replicate this model in the remaining markets in the city to create favourable conditions for small traders and market-goers to get used to cashless payments.
Also, a number of activities will take place to support small businesses to put their products on Viettel Post's Voso.vn e-commerce platform and Viettel post offices will be set up at wet markets to support goods’ shipments and delivery.
