Large capital channeled into motivational and key projects

In 2022, Da Nang government is set to allocate more than VND7,880 billion of its total public investment capital for key and motivational projects.

Of which, the investment capital for 66 traffic projects is worth nearly VND1,529 billion.

Most recently, the municipal People’s Council has approved to spend VND1,203 billion on building a coastal road connecting the soon-to-be-constructed Lien Chieu Port with National Highway 1A, and VND 274 billion on constructing the Quang Da Bridge and approach roads to a bridge spanning the Yen River.

Deputy Director in charge of the municipal Department of Transport Bui Hong Trung said that in 2022, the city will continue building synchronous infrastructure in tandem with speeding up the progress and quality of key traffic projects. The focus will be on accelerating the implementation of key traffic projects during the 2021-2025 period in line with the city's master planning to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Also, importance will be attached to expediting the upgrading of DT601 road, the construction of western ring road and western ring road No. 2, the renovation of the Ngo Quyen-Ngu Hanh Son route, and the building of the riverside Tuyen Son - Tuy Loan route and DH2 road.

Related units are making every effort to monitor and speed up the construction of the automated parking garages at 255 Phan Chau Trinh in Hai Chau District at second stage, and at 166 Hai Phong.

The transport sector continues to propose the construction of parking garages in the city, with priority given to those in the city centre, and intelligent traffic control and monitoring system projects.

In particular, the city has been actively and proactively coordinating with central ministries and agencies, and investors, to implement such key projects as the development of shared infrastructure in the Lien Chieu Port; the first stage of the relocation of the city's railway station; the upgrade of domestic passenger terminal T1 at Da Nang International Airport; the upgrade and expansion of a section of national highway 14B from Tuy Loan to Quang Nam border, 14G and 14D; and the upgrade of the 11.5km-long Hoa Lien-Tuy Loan section.

In addition, Da Nang plans to carry out dozens of inner-city traffic infrastructure projects with a total capital of hundreds of billions of VND, including a 19.5m-long road connecting the planned road at the Phan Lang 2 residential area to Truong Chinh Street, the upgrade of Vo Duy Ninh Street, a 45m-long road between its intersections with Le Huu Trac and Nguyen Van Thoai, and a 45m-long road between its intersections with Ho Ngoc Lam and Truong Dinh.

Moreover, the city plans to develop transport infrastructure, especially widening Luu Quy Ky Street, building a road connecting Chau Thi Vinh Te with My Da Dong 8 and a northern road of Le Trong Tan Street, and upgrading the An Thuong 2-An Thuong 3- Ngo Thi Sy- Vo Nguyen Giap route, Hoang Ke Viem - Vo Nguyen Giap route, and Tran Bach Dang and Le Quang Dao streets to serve tourism development.

According to the city’s Department of Planning and Investment, this year, a total of VND455 billion worth of additional municipal budget capital will be poured into 13 projects which have been deployed from previous years. Included are the north-west traffic axis No 1 project, and a 39 km ring road on the western side of the city which connects the 14B Highway with Ho Chi Minh Street in Hoa Vang District.

Focus on developing logistics infrastructure

According to the Prime Minister-approved adjustments to the master plan for Da Nang’s major developments by 2030 with a vision to 2045, the city will develop five key logistics centres at traffic hubs, industrial parks and industrial clusters.

Specifically, the Lien Chieu Port Logistics Centre will be developed as a seaport logistics centre in the city, with a scale of 35ha by 2030, and 69ha by 2045.

The second one will be the Hoa Nhon Logistics Centre which will be positioned near the intersection of the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Highway and the south of Hoang Van Thai route. It is expected to be 27ha by 2030 and 54ha by 2045. This road logistics centre will be in charge of providing technical services for road transport vehicles, and logistics services for goods transporting vehicles transiting through the city.

Also, a railway logistics centre will be built in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Lien Commune with a scale of 5 ha by 2030, and 10 ha by 2045.

Meanwhile, an aviation logistics centre will be constructed at Da Nang International Airport. It is expected to be 4 ha by 2030, and 8 ha by 2045.

Moreover, there will be a specialised logistics centre at the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park with a scale of 3 ha by 2030, and 20 ha by 2045. It will play the role of supporting the aviation and road logistics centres.

Last but not least, some small-scale logistics centres and other warehouses with the scale of 26ha by 2030, and 68ha by 2045 will be built in the city, aimed at supporting the above-mentioned centralised logistics centres, as well as collecting and distributing goods to serve the city and neighboring provinces. They will be arranged according to the actual needs and the city's land fund at locations convenient for traffic and near the hubs of production and consumption of goods.

The recent development of transport infrastructure with many large and modern works has met the trade needs of the city, hereby remarkably contributing to the reasonable restructuring of the transport sector, ensuring the harmonious connection of modes of transport, promoting the strengths of each mode of transport, reducing transportation costs, improving efficiency and quality of transportation services, and improving the competitiveness of the economy.
