Da Nang welcomes over 254,000 visitors during April 30 and May 1 holiday break
Despite wet weather, Da Nang welcomed tens of thousands of visitors during the four-day break for the National Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers' Day (May 1) holidays. The city’s social order and traffic safety were ensured to help both locals and tourists enjoy the holidays in a thorough manner.

An increase of 3.4 times over the same period in 2021
Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism Truong Thi Hong Hanh said that Da Nang saw a surge in tourist arrivals during the holiday. The majority of them were from neighbouring provinces and cities in Central Viet Nam, Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The municipal government directed relevant agencies and localities to develop detailed plans and synchronously implement measures to guarantee security and safety of tourism activities at the peak of the holiday.
Recent statistics released by the Department show that the total number of tourist arrivals in Da Nang during the 4-day holiday break is estimated at more than 254,000, 3.4 times higher than the same period in 2021. 246,600 of them were domestic visitors, 3.3 times higher than last year, whilst the remaining 7,400 were international visitors, nearly 16 times higher than the same period in 2021.
Meanwhile, tourist attractions in the city welcomed a large number of visitors during the holiday. In particular, the Sun World Ba Na Hills tourist area attracted about 50,000 visitors, the Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park about 25,000, the Marble Mountains Tourist Area about 13,000, and the Mikazuki Water Park 365 about 15,000. The number of inland waterway passengers is estimated at 7,000.
The room occupancy rates at 4 to 5-star hotels reached over 70%, of which those at seaside hotels hit 90%, whist those at inner city hotels reached about 40-50%.
Some large travel companies such as the Da Nang branch of Vietravel Company, the Saigontourist Travel Company, and the Viet Nam Travelmart JSC, received 40-50 groups of guests with 4,000-4,500 in total.
A wide array of engrossing activities were organised across Da Nang during the four-day holiday break. Included were the opening ceremony of the Da Nang Beach Tourism Season programme, a kite festival, an arts sand sculpture contest, a SUP race, a swimming contest for sea lovers, a photo exhibition entitled ‘Moments in Son Tra Peninsula, and a ‘Flying over the silver sea’ paragliding tournament.
Deputy Director of the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches Tran Dai Nghia said that this year’s Da Nang Beach Tourism Season programme promised to bring tourists exciting and memorable experience.
Through the programme, the Management Board wishes to introduce and promote beautiful images of the city’s sea-based tourism to both domestic and foreign tourists.
One of the most highlights of the programme was the opening of nighttime tourism activities at the My An Beach in Ngu Hanh Son District.
The nighttime tourism activities at the My An Beach link with the An Thuong Tourist Streets complex, promising to bring visitors new experience. After relaxing and having fun in the My An Beach at night, visitors can visit the An Thuong Tourist Streets complex to experience the city’s cultural products and cuisine.
Previously, on April 29, the Da Nang Department of Tourism worked with Budget carrier Vietjet Air to hold a ceremony to welcome the first flight from South Korea back to Da Nang after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.
Vietjet Air-operated flight VJ879, carrying a total of more than 220 passengers, landed at Da Nang International Airport from South Korea’s Incheon International Airport.

Airport, and coach and railway stations, busy during holiday
As observed by our reporters on the last day of the long holiday, a crowd of passengers flocked to local coach station, airport, and railway station to return home after the holiday.
According to the municipal Department of Transport, during the 4-day holiday break, Da Nang met the growing travel needs of passengers.
During that period, the city saw 600 flights taking off from and landing at Da Nang International Airport, and hundreds of trains and coaches operating.
Mrs. Le Thi Tuyen from the city’s Railway Station said that during this year’s holiday, the city’s railway sector welcomed about 8,000 passengers, and it added more train cars and seats to serve the increasing needs of passengers.
Mr. Phan Kieu Hung, Deputy Director of the Da Nang International Airport, informed that in the morning of May 3, the number of passengers checking in at the airport was more crowded than usual but all activities took place orderly.
The airport planned to arrange 104 check-in counters with the capacity of serving 4,500 passengers per hour at both domestic and international passenger terminals.
