The Da Nang Rubber JSC (DRC) on Friday morning held a groundbreaking ceremony for the VND 917 billion project of raising the annual capacity of its Radial truck tyre manufacturing factory to 1 million tyre. Also attendance at the ceremony was municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Tran Phuoc Son.

As reported by DRC General Director Le Hoang Khanh Nhut, since 2011, the company has invested in building the first Radial truck tyre factory with an annual capacity of 600,000 tyres for consumption at home and abroad, in which the US market recorded the highest growth.

In 2017, DRC continued improving its Radial tyre manufacturing technology through its cooperation with European partners, which helped its products enhance competitiveness to be on par with the world's two leading tyre manufacturers, namely Bridgestone in Japan and Michelin in France.

Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony, Vice Chairman Son affirmed that the expansion of the factory to increase its annual capacity to 1 million tyres has been of great significance in terms of scientific and technical applications and socio-economic development, creating new domestically-made products in a bid to replace imported ones and creating more jobs for those in need.

Vice Chairman Son also proposed relevant local agencies, the construction contractor, the supervision consultant to improve the sense of responsibility, seriously and objectively work and create all favourable conditions so as to support DRC to successfully implement the factory expansion project on schedule with technical quality guaranteed and then effectively put it into operation and use.

The above-mentioned factory covers an area of 109.632m² in athe Lien Chieu Industrial Park, Hoa Hiep Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District.

The project is expected to be put into operation in the second quarter of 2024.
